      Hi,

did already flash the 1010 version on my P2B. Runs fine. Btw. Asus is an excellent company. If you need a mainboard go and get an ASUS.

Jorden - sorry I don`t know if a coppermine would run. But I think so.

Looks like it'll support coppermine, at least initially. My P2B-S can only get to a 6x multiplier, so as soon as they get above 600MHz, I'm out of luck. I think the later revisions of the P2B can get a little higher, but I'm not sure.

        ---

        6. Added microcode update support for Coppermine cA-0. (CPU ID=680)
        7. Upgraded microcode update data for 650, 651, 652, 653, 655, 672, and 673 processors.
        Revision: 650 -> 40; 651 -> 40; 652 -> 2a, 653 -> 0a; 665 -> 03; 672 -> 0b; 673 -> 07; 680 -> 0b;
        8. Microcode update for Coppermine 256K upgraded to revision 014.

What kind of noticable differences are in this 1010 bios. I just flashed 1009 and now theres a new one. Do you get any better performance or better compatability or what? Just wondering if I should fix somethin that isn't broke. Thanks BTW is this beta or an official release of this bios?

                Hello Apallag!

You have no such luck! That you're out of luck!

I too am the happy owner of this great board called the ASUS P2B-S. You see apallag, Intel has this great thing called a multiplier-lock, so if you were to put a PIII 800 MHz (8x100) into your board, the multiplier will automaticly go to x8, although the jumpers aren't suppossed to!

Enjoy your board and future CPU's.

The vanilla P2B has the ability to jumper the CPU core frequency to 8, and the FSB to 112 MHz, so it's theoretically possible to put a 900 MHz CPU on the board...

I thought the Coppermine runs only on 133 MHz FSB though ??

Correction Jorden, the P2B from rev. 1.10 up, can go up to 150 MHz FSB!

Just finished flashing my bios, and experiencing some problems ... Windows now display the "it's now safe to shutdown your PC" screen and then shutting down the PC after 5 seconds ... this problem never exist when I was using a 1009b bios revision ... Any one experiencing same problem ????

                          check your BIOS settings...

goto Power Management Setup and check PWR Button < 4 secs.

Does it say Soft Off or Suspend ??

If it's Suspend, change it to Soft Off.
That should get rid of the problem!!

Jorden, who had the same problem
