Well, I tried to warn you.....

Sorry. I promise not to let the erstwhile Knight of the Netherlands off his leash.

Let's face it, he's sweet, but not much help since he has an SB card as well...so no need to hurt him (much), (Matt).

Does the name 'Joxer' mean anything to anybody here?? 'Heart of a lion' and all that?

    Whatever...

Holly, actually I like both cards very well, I have used both. I like the Live! for my ears personally, and I really like the low cpu usage. I am not currently using a Live!, however. I am stuck with an awe64, cause one of my friends really wanted the Live! for his system when I built it, and I am not selfish.
I was just razzin' you up a bit. BTW, did you get the underwear out? hehehe.

DJ, you can use silicon safely to attatch your fan to the heatsink, just as long as you use the right stuff. Personally, if I were to use it, I would go to your autoparts store and get some black RTV (should say sensor safe on the tube), it doesn't asperate anything harmful to your electronics, but RTV is messy.

Matt, m'dear, if you think I'm going to discuss my underwear with the flying Dutchman around (not to mention the rest of the murcs), well....and you're right, this suit *is* itchy, can I borrow that powder?

rubank, I see your point (lol), but really, what do *you* call the (cleaner) output you get using the spdif connection on your sound card/ dvd drive/ etc. Please tell me, you can see I need all the help I can get..!

I know the Yamaha SW1000XG is great for midi, but doesn't it lack a lot of digital support? For music I would go with something like a ISIS Studio. It's cheap, great midi and everythings done externally.

                  Holly,

What rubank meant by "all sound is analog" is that you won't be able to hear it until it has been converted to analog. There has to be a DAC somewhere before it is turned into audible sound.

Using the example of listening to an audio cd in your cd rom drive:

If you use the analog audio output of the drive, you're using the DAC in the drive to convert the audio to analog, and it remains analog until it hits your ears. If you use the digital out, then you're using the DAC in your sound card. If you use the spdif out on your sblive, then you're using the DAC in your stereo system. Finally, if you use USB speakers, the signal is digital until right before it hits the speaker, but there is still a DAC in the speakers themselves.

The point is, your ears are analog, not digital. Until we get a spdif in mounted on our brain stems, we'll need analog sound

                  Andrew
