First of all remove all the crap running in background. That means getting rid of those pretty little icons next to clock. All of them.

Try that for the starters.

Is busmastering turned on?
Do you have any IRQ clashes with other cards (esp the Live!)?
Can you try at 100mhz FSB?

ok bus mastering is on, and there are no conflicts in IRQ's.
but now ive got another problem!!! YEY!!!
Whenever i start the Matrox DVD player i get an error message saying : The CINMST32.DLL file cannot start. Check the file to determine the problem.
Gees all i wanna do is watch a dvd to calm me down from my card being sooo slow and now thats not even working!!!! For f@#k sake!
PLEASE PLEASE HELP ME (oh yeah with both problems not just dvd one

This is real 'shot in the dark' stuff...

Did you used to own a G200 - have you COMPLETELY uninstalled the old Powerdesk drivers?(<a href="http://www.murc.ws/Driver/Win9x/PD5/un_513.zip">Powerdesk Uninstaller</a>)

Are you running AGP 2X?

What clock speeds does this utility report for your card (Performance Tuner (<a href="Programs/perftune.exe">local</a>/<a href="http://www.entechtaiwan.com/files/perftune.exe">remote</a>)) DO NOT ALTER ANYTHING WITH THIS UTILITY YET

Have you used any overclocking utilities at all on the card? If so - which ones? What did you do?

ok im using AGP 2x, i have never owned any other matrox product until now, i did completely remove the old powerdesk drivers with the unistaller, and followed the whole procudure. i have not used any overclocking utlities on this card either. ok and the powerstrip thing which i didnt alter as you said, is on 126mhz engie clock speed, and 168mhz memory clock speeds.
so im guessing that i havent down anything wrong here, which sucks cause i still dont know what the prolem is, oh yeah got ny suggestions on my dvd problem?

To fix the cin*.dll error coming up, delete the file, and reinstall the dvd software.

hey mragsdale, i tried to fix it using what you said and fter i reinstalled it i still get the problem
also i still cant get the crad up to speed come on anyone? please help

Have you tried clocking back down a bit, or slowing down your RAM settings in the BIOS? Could be pushin it a bit hard...

ok update i dont get the cinsmt32.dll error anymore but now after a dvd has run for a while it will say this:

If clocking it down doesn't work, then make sure you have ALL traces of any previous DVD software lingering in your system. You may also want to consider trying on a fresh install, there may be other software conflicts.

Also, what version of windows are you running?

ok i did clock it back down to default speeds but all that did was make it 7fps slower, which is obvioulsy from clocker down the processor.

I usta own a version of WINDVD on my puter before i got the Matrox one and i unistalled it first before installing the matrox dvd player

also im running just the normal version of WIN98
mmmm frsh install seriously thinking about it but damm it takes so long, well if i dont get any answers soon i guess this will probably be the only option. But what happens if i do format and the it still is slow as hell that would suck

one more think i just did i timedemo of q3arena at 800x600x16bit colour and all i got was a messly 27fps.

Just because you uninstalled it doesn't mean everything is gone. There can be little gremlins in the registry, shared files that didn't get deleted, etc. Also what version of windows are you running.

When you installed your current installation of windows, did you upgrade it via a previous installation of windows, I have had problems getting DVD players to work this way.
