    Upsssssss !.....Vsync OFF ???????????

well after desabling VSYNC I always get DECRASED benchmark ....I made few runs on both settings V.s-off/on & always when OFF I get lower results...it must have something to do with monitor FRAMERATE because in some settings I realy get incrased performance with VSYNC OFF (800x600 , 1024x768 ... then my monitor provides 85Hz refresh but in 1280x1024 only 65 or 60 Hz)... hmmmmm !

    here the bench ...

A little help for a first time O/C'er. I just have 3DMark 99 so I can only test at 800x600. But when I cranked up the FSB to 112 MHz, scores got worse 'cept for CPU 3D Mark. Each test ran three times, similar results. What to do?

One difference noted with FSB at 112 was it calls my P II 400 a celeron and says there is no L2 cache. Won't boot up at all if I crank up the CPU Core multiplier, just can up the FSB.

P II 400, ASUS P2B-LS, 16MB G400 (MAX coming), 256MB ECC RAM, ECC disabled in BIOS, all scuzzie w/Cheetah's.

        Hey SCompRacer,

thanks to some other thread around here I learned that the B21 trick (used on a Celeron to make the FSB overclockable) unlocks the multiplier for my PII 350.

I tried it out, and now my computer is running stable at 450 MHz. You also might give it a try.

        Greetings

          hi ! SCompRacer1

you should OC G400 not FSB only then U will got some performance incrasing..but DO NOT USE PSTRIP or GX TUNER as we knowe it could damage your Vcard BIOS so use MGATWEAK or G400TWEAK(for reg hcks)..& funy stuff is that G400 doesnt BLOW in 800x600 the most TNT2 & UTNT outperform G400 in 640x480x16 & 800x600x16 but...he.he. 1024x768x16x32 or above , 32bit zbf ON or OFF G400 is the ULTIMATIVE ASS KICKER !!!!!!

          actuly I play KINGPIN @ 1024x768x32 , 32 bit zbf ON , 32 bit DESKTOP not O/C & Vsync ON....NICE & SMOOTH......yesssss!!!!!

Hi franksch3, Is that the tape on the processor terminal trick?

Hey Spider, thanks, will try that then. I thought (ignorance is bliss) increasing the processor speed boosted everything, guess not, eh?

The G400 kicks ass allright, but read the news, Spider - Croatia is independent and the PowerStrip problem has been fixed.

Could someone please translate this for me because i'll be damned if I can really get much out of it. I ran my vanilla G400 at 200 memory/150 core with vsink on using new powerstrip. I don't have the registered version of 3dmark99max so the highest I can go is 800x600. Do these look average? Thanks

Yeah that looks about right. But remember comparing P2 to P3 in 3Dmark is like comparing apples to oranges and you won't get a fair assesment of the G400's performance. Also of note, it's about time someone has went somewhere with a Max! 170/227 thats impressive! Looks like the 6ns ram maxes out(pun intended at a little over 200...

It seems that they are a bit low for this system, what should I do???
I get G400Tweak and changed some parameters: it grows from 2650 to 2850, but how to get more?

                      Thanks in advance.

there is defenetly something WRONG because CHEK this :Point Sample Texture Filtering Speed: N/A
                        Bilinear Texture Filtering Speed: N/A
                        Trilinear Texture Filtering Speed: N/A
                        Anisotropic Texture Filtering Speed: N/A
                        6 Pixel/individual: N/A
                        6 Pixel/strips: N/A

                        1000 Pixel/strips: N/A

It should have values...or U desabled it or fom some reason it didnt make that runs...overall score is OK for your system

ahh..yess..." Spider - Croatia is independent and the PowerStrip problem has been fixed."....It says SOME, I repeat SOME that dont mean ALL problems has been fixed....but I give it a try later...not quite sure about PSTRIP..

Yop, your figures look okay with me. Much like mine, and my bus speed is at 112. Also my tests were done using 16BitZ, for some reason the Result Browser didn't pick that up.

Spider, really, it was nothing. I guess we'll have to feed you less sugar tomorrow

                            Hi Spider,

He has the 3DMark 99 MAX like I got, not the MAX PRO, so it does not give you all the options unless I don't know where to turn them on either.

Gotta pay the $ for all that N/A stuff to work? Only thing I know for sure is you can only test in 800x600 @ 16 bit.

                              Hello Maniac,

What kind of performance increases can one get from going from a P II to a P III.

I have a P II 400 now, but P III prices will be dropping again about August 24, and it might be time to get one. A P III 500 if I have enough rubles, a P III 450 if not.

                                Hi,

I meant the B21 pin trick. You can find instructions somewhere over at Toms Hardware. It is an article about running all Celeron processors on a FSB higher than 66 MHz.
