Armyworm is nominee for the best post of this week, I think

SCompRacer, P3's are faster because in general they are running at higher clockspeeds (like 4.5x124=558, and better). By itself there's not much of a difference. If you compare Yop's P3 450 scores to my P2 448 scores you see what I mean.

Spider, Old drivers suck, old utilities suck. This thread wouldn't be without a working version of PowerStrip.

Spider- Hi, the texture filtering and pixel are n/a unless I purchase the pro version which I might need to do, but otherwise the marks looked about right? Thanks

          Hi ScompRacer,

3Dmark Max makes full use of the P3's new multimedia extensions which means you're going to see a rather hefty performance increase with it. The only other game I know of, which will support SSE instructions is Q3arena. However for $200US you will be getting a raw increase in clock speed as the P3-450 will do 558 without to much difficulty, so long as you have RAM that is stable at 124fsb...

                Thanks, Maniac

Unfortunately my FSB is limited to 112,</a> a MB limitation of my ASUS P2B-LS. Went there with the P II 400 though and 3D Mark 99 MAX went down.</a> Been told I gotta O/C the G400 too to get results.

Got a show this weekend, but my supplier told me P III's won't go down till Aug 24th.

But, are you ready for this, got $177.50 for my Dual Monster 3D VooDoo II cards, so getting closer to that P III 500. </a>

                  SCompRacer1,

I'm not positive about this, but I think your marks may have gone down when you tried 112FSB because your divisor may have changed for either the PCI or AGP bus. It may have dropped the frequency below spec.

On mine I have control of the divisors so my 133FSB gives me 33.336 PCI, 89 AGP.

I'm not certain how your motherboard handles the divisors. (Anybody out there know how this board does this?)

I saw someone mentioning games that will take advantage of Pentium 3... well all retail G400 owners have one... Expendable! I have seen that SSE can give a large increase in Expendable timedemos so if anyone wants to run one, preferably at 1024x768 and 32-bit color, that would cool.

                      Guyver,

I am not clear as to what a 'divisor' is.

All I have on my ASUS P2B-LS is jumpers for the CPU core bus freq., which my P II 400 will only allow a 4.0 multiplier to boot at all, and the CPU bus freq.

Any other jumpers are for features, like keyboard on, disable onboard SCSI/LAN.

Some one told me I have to O/C the G400 as well, or try it at 103 FSB, which is the only other option above 100 I have. I was also advised to leave it for a few days and then test it.

                      So much to learn...

                        Hi ! there..!

As I said...I tested the new version of POWERSTRIP & Im impresst...

The results are similar to MGATWEAK results & they realy fixed some bugs

                        1. MEM/GCLK values are calculated correctly now
2.AGP works fine when useing O/C( before..if useing O/C performance slider , AGP doesnt work exact & all benchm. crashed)
3 general performace lost when O/C is fixed now..

after useing Pstrip I made several test runs with MGATWEAK to see if the rsults will be same as befor...& it was...

I notice only one difference when O/c
with Pstrip in FinalReality...that is 2D BUS TRANSFERE RATE which is much LOWER as when I use MGATWEAK look here :
