Where are the G400 cards assembled?

I didn't get the game bundled in the box. THe salesman told me that it was. I bought the card quickly because I got a very good deal if the game was bundled. I called the salesman and he told me to call him in the office and he will help me out. I didn't get a manual either. Just the card, CD and the DualHead Cable. The Manual is useless since it is also in the CD. But if I had the manual it would have been a good gesture.

I can get the manual and the game if I am not too lazy to go to xander's office. I don't care about the game since I already have the retail expendable and I have the patch which enables bump mapping (G400 support).

In any case I will be getting my G400 Max from Quasar. I have know Quasar for a long time.

I just bought G400 16megs DH from Xander because I was getting friendly with the Sales Manager.

In any case I am also glad to know that there are lots of Hong Kong gamers visting this site.

My G400 SH is assambled in CHINA.. not quite happy bout that...all my erlyer Matrox products was made in CANADA assambled in USA...but ewrythig looks allright... !

It is funny that we live in Hong Kong which is now a part of China and yet we regret that the G400 Cards are made locally in China.

No wonder the G400 cards were available very early in Hong Kong. They were assembled in China.

I got my card from Quasar. The guy from the Golden shopping mall show room is really friendly and helpful.
It is not that I regret getting a card that was assembled in China. It is just that I have never had a Matrox card die on me just like that before. I have being using Matrox card since the Millenium I era. I have personally used 4 Matrox cards and helped a couple of friends build system with the G200. None of the cards gave me any problems like the G400. And they are all assembled in Canada.
Oh well, at least I got a working one right now and I am happy.

Glad to know that your card is working now. G400 is a very very good card indeed. I was a fool not getting a G400 16megs DH before. But then I am still waiting for my G400 Max.

Once that come, I am selling my G400 16megs DH. I can't imagine how the G400 Max will be. IF I like the 16megs so much then the G400 Max will be the best card for me.

I have my G400 Max pre-ordered from Quasar since May. He! He! That guy in the store is probably fed up of me coming to the store and asking him several question. But then that guy is nice and friendly. Funny guy!

I asked them when the MAX will be in when I was returning my card, he told me probably late August. If what he is saying is true, you should be getting you card pretty soon.
The G400 is indeed an excellent card, even though the OpenGL performance is lacking. Lets hope it will improve with future driver update.

My G400 OEM 32Mb DH was made in my basement slave labor camp by young taiwanese children, and it seems to work fine. The drivers have a few spelling errors but other than that all is good. What does it matter where they are made! Don't youi think matrox would have all their plants certified for board production using quality testing before putting the plant into full production?

I am not talking about quality. I was wondering why if the cards are made in China then why aren't the G400 Max released in Hong Kong yet. Later I realized that the G400 Max are only assembled in Canada and only the OEM cards are made in China.

haha, SMT is not done in some basement. Most of it is automated, except for the placement of the capacitors and resistors, which you have to have some basic training to do. The process of soldering is mostly all automated though - they go thru big ovens that are hot enuff to melt the solder. There should be no difference in a G400 made in china and a G400 made in canada, other than the assembled sticker. OH YEAH, and the jobs it takes away from canadians.
