    Hi Slarty,

You might have something there, I built my daughter her 1st computer when she was 6 years old, now at 17 she is somewhat like that, but she is a wiz with software and just working with pc's.

Mainly I was talking about early to mid 20's, I worked for compaq and the younger people would amaze me with what they know compared with my years of experience but I am more of a hardware person than software anyway. I have more experience with DCS and DDC's than PC's tho.

Anyway I see what you were talking about.
Some teenagers that i've seen with PC's are really sharp!

I hate to disapoint you, Ash. But, the first time saw a computer was in 1959 when I was 7 years old (My father was a programmer too.). My first programming class was in 1968 in high school (fortran & cobol).
Sounds like you may need to move the lower bound of your age array up some

I won't even begin to start on the looks I get when I talk tech Been doing this since I was about 7 also (that seems to be the age...) put together my own serial cable when I was 9 - at school at that, with the teachers saying "She's going in the wrong direction." ... Well. I'm making more than they are now and was at 21. Whatever.

I agree though, the newer generations, they aren't like that. Except for a dwindling number of 14 year old savants, who show themselves on the net anyways, largely, I think the population is getting to be dirt stupid. More and more people are of the mind, "I don't want to know how it works, I just want it to work."

Right. :\ ... anyways. Y'all dont need my societal opinions i'm sure :P

          *phyzz.

                Fizzy,
This is to be expected. I'm sure that when cars first came into common use most people who owned them were mechanicly inclined.
The greater the % of population who use computers the greater the % who are ignorant buffoons.
Call it "chuck's law of increasing user lameness"
                chuck

when i write a program, i assume that the first thing the users will do is lay their hands flat on the keyboard and press all the keys at once. this way the program is almost prepaired for what they will realy do
