Q3 new benchmarks with 5.25

Well, I tried Tishs instructions, and it ran, but wouldnt give me a fps, so I just loaded up, set everything on the max at 1024X768 (32/32, slider to right, trilinear, etc etc) and ran demo1
I got 41.9fps with the G400 at 125/150
I then clocked my P3 to 618 (6*103) put the AGP divider at 1/1 and clocked the G400 to 168/224.
i only got 46.5 fps.

this is with the 5.25 drivers and the beta ICD

system:
P3 600
Abit BX6 ver 2
128 CAS 2 ram
G400 32Mb DH
all SCSI hard drives etc (10,000rpm)
2940UW
ISA soundblaster pro
D-link NIC
SLI Voodoo2s

Im wondering if the soundcard is whats causing the slowdowns.

Also, what do you people have running in the background. press you windows key and R, then type msconfig
go to the startup tab, and see what you have there.

it might make a difference to your scores (find fast does).

you didn't get the FPS? dammit that's the fps I want... I can now compare my performance to Spellbounds, who got 36.1 fps. I want yours too

When it's done just hit tilde (~) and one of the last lines should contain a number value of 10-50.

Disable the sound and run some more test. Or better, grab the whole card out.
I'm sure that it slows you down. SBLive! is the way..

I've now benched my system a little.

This is what I did:

1. Deleted my q3config.cfg.
2. Started q3 with the following command line:

quake3 +seta r_mode 6 +seta r_fullscreen 1 +seta r_swapinterval 0 +vid_restart +s_initsound 0 +snd_restart +timedemo 1 +demo q3demo1

I run the MGA Twak utility from Matrox and tried raise the FPS (at 1024x768, of course )

Here's the results:

100,0% = 39.1
103,8% = 40.7
104,1% = 40.8
106,2% = 41.1
107,0% = 41.2
107,5% = Guru Meditation w/funky lines
108,0% = Guru Meditation w/funky lines

Unlike Spellbound, I have pair of P3-450@504. I have a Max, and it was in win98se

107.0% is my setting for that res ¦ )
