I think somebody in a previous post hit the nail right on the head. The online distributers are probably bypassing the card till prices drop. I am only being charged $215.00 for the max from NECX. I preordered it 5/20/99, almost 4 months! I have known that people have been getting cards from matrox but I didn't want give up the price I got from NECX. Well I will give them 1 more week and then I canceling and getting it from Matrox, which is only 1 day shipping away from me.

I don't care whether it was the suits, engineers, or whoever at Matrox - all of you made good points. And the problem now is that Matrox is now more like the old Diamond, than Diamond is itself! Matrox has lost face in the retail stores - just go and ask ANY of them if they will carry Matrox? Even the one that has the G200 (Micro Center) has NO PLANS AT ALL of stocking the G400 brand! So if you lost face in the retail chains, you LOST! As for us the users, I was willing to loose a few FPS to get a G400 MAX, but it looks like I'm not anymore. And as for the W2K drivers, this part REALLY IS like the old Diamond, and one of the main reasons I switched to Matrox (from Diamond) back in early 95! I was a Win95 Beta Tester, and Diamond refused to have Beta drivers for a Beta O/S - but Matrox had them for the original Millennium, and we were happy as hell! And they kept us even happier by updating them a lot. But now this situation is differnt, WHY???

All I can say is: Matrox, pull your head out of that hole in the ground and look around! You are BURNING a lot of the folks that were your loyal user base. Keep it up and you will not have many left. As for me, either I find a G400 MAX for UNDER $200 now and IN A RETAIL STORE in the next 2 weeks, or you might NEVER get me back as a customer. And the below $200 is quite realistic, cause the main competitor is the TNT2U which goes for around $229 (some lower with rebates), and in about 2 weeks they will probably drop in price more.
