    Hello.

    To all of you overclocking your G400 Maxes.. Are you doing the overclocking with additional fans tacked onto the video card or without? I'd like to see how far I can push my Max but without the fans.. Any safe numbers? I'm working with a AMD K6-2 450 with 256 megs of ram.. Suggestions? Thanks!

      Random H, airflow in and out of the case is the big factor here to reject heat. Directing this air over the cards is better yet to keep it's cool.

      I was O/C an OEM 16MB card prior to getting my MAX and one of the fans in the front of my full tower blew air across the heat sink.

      Have you got case limitations that prevent you from adding fans? Remember, necessity is the Mother of all invention.

        Hi..

        I OCed my G400 too. It's a G400 SH with 16MB. It runs at 160/200 and its rocksolid.
        Pitty is the fact that MGA Tweak doesnt save the settings at my machine. Not even if I did check that option.

        My idea for the ideal overclocker is that MGA Tweak itself saves the settings in de registry like Matrox Tweak does. I tried to figure out the registry settings and I think most options can be changed. I am not sure if it lets you change the multiplier though. You can find this reg. key under 0000/settings/engine/clocks ..or something

        Anyway..running this G400 with 5.25+beta ICD makes me do 100FPS in Quake2 at 640x480x16bit(weeeeeeee). But thats probably because of my Athlon at 500MHz. I want to OC that puppy too but I havent got the ability to iron like that. So I am waiting for the ideal motherboards to get out!

              Cmag, I use MGATweak with my G200.
              The best I can get is Fo 190.59 (2.00/1.50/2.00)
              SGRAM 3 1 2 4 2 1 Fast 1 1 1 0.0 0.0 Mclk 1217 Not sure what Memory refresh stuff does
              With those settings I get a paltry 1504 3DMarks. With Ant's SGRAM settings I get 1436 3DMarks.

                Got my Max 2 days ago, and it rocks! Thanks to KJLiew( if u ever come to Northridge CA, Beer's on me, bro) and his Tweak utility, my Max is currently humming at the following specs:

                F0=459.80, 2.5/2/2/2.5 for 183.60/229.50/183.60MHz.

                Sgram settings are: 3,1,3,9,3,1,Fast,1,1,1,1.2,1.2,2883.

                This setup gives me 32FPS in UNreal FlyBy at 1024/32/max setting, no visual artifacs or tearing, and factory fan whereas the Matrox tweak only allows me 116% before Unreal gets all psychedelic, which equal 174/232MHz. THUS MGA Tweak is my choice of arms.

                I've got a P2-300/464 at 2.0(refuses to do more no matter what, suggestions gladly accepted), ABIT BE-6, WD 9.1/7200/66, 128MB cas2 7ns, G400MAX, Aureal SuperQuad, Toshiba sd-m1212 DVD, Landmark 299 case/300W. 2 80mm/36cfm case fans and a VEK32 are doing the job keeping the thing cool.

                  Dentycracker,

                  Thanks for the info. I had my G200 set at fo 190.50 (2.0/1.5/2.0).
                  SGRAM optimization disabled
                  With these settings, I get 1783 3DMarks and 4625 CPU 3Dmarks on an AMD K6-2 400 o/c to 450 with 128 megs SDRAM. When I turned on SGRAM Op, and left it at the default setting, I got 1729 3DMarks and 4563 CPU 3DMarks. When I tried your settings, I got 1781 3DMarks and 4494 CPU 3DMarks. This was using the 5.25 drivers.
                  Does anyone remember from their old G200 days if these scores are any good?

                  Thanks

                    Cmag,
                    Turning on SDRAM/SGRAM optimization while leaving them at default states is a serious mistake in using MGATweak. You're sure to get performance drop if you do this. This is clearly stated and BOLDED in the PDF user guide. Hope you can read the PDF user guide or dick into past archives of my website for details on optimized memory timings.

                    MentalVacuum,

                    A...Ha, thanks! Glad to hear that.

                      Jacco, make a shortcut to MGAtweak in your start-up folder, right click on the shortcut and go to properties, then check "run minimized". This will save your settings, and auto load in your system tray at start-up. cheers!

                        With my G400 Max i cannot got more than 204mhz for the memory clock, beyond this point in D3D several garbles appear, so i don't know how Ant and Mental Vaccum can go up to 229mhz !?
                        My best score using MGATweak is
                        fo=408.38mhz
                        gclk=163.35mhz
                        mclk=204.19mhz
                        wclk=163.35mhz

                              Does the Matrox tweak util ver. 1.12 run correctly with the G200??? When I install and run it on my system, all I get when doubleclicking the icon on the taskbar is a box that allows me to change FlipOnVBlank on or off. No OC slider or other settings to change?!?!?!? Am I doing something wrong here?

                              I'm using PD 5.25 on my G200 Mill.
