I haven't built a lot of VA503+ machines. Only three. Two of them were mine (one got damaged by my brother) I was never able to get bus mastering to work. (I had the same millennium G200 card for both). I am thinking I got a bad G200. That G200 is now my brother's (the same one) and runs 5.30 with everything enabled (wcp and raw) at AGP 2X without any tweaks and does OGL (at least the screensavers anyhow). It runs UT ok (for me) The lack of bus mastering has a significant effect on the framerates. I stripped the machine and methodically went through the BIOS even changed memory to no avail. Will be getting an (aarrgghh) ATI Charger something to stop a gap until I set up my next machine next month (Athlon, G400 MAX, Rainbow Runner G, Live! Platinum) Just need to get paid.

Make sure that OpenGL32.dll is in your system folder, and that there aren't any other miniGL's in the Q2 folder. Also, have you had another video card in your system lately? If so uninstall the drivers for it, and make sure there are references to it in the registry.

Thanks Rags, all above are affirmative, gonna try wiping out the bios on the mobo as I noticed something really wierd....
when looking at the bios page with the spread spectrum choice, it is set to enable so I went to try and change it, when I click on it, it changes to the agp 2x choice and the spread spectrum choice disappears !!!
Is that normal, doesn't seem like it to me

              well, well, well,
              format c:
              reinstalled win98se
reinstalled 4 in 1 by via
              reinstalled PD 5.25
              whalah! ogl works in quake2
upgraded to 5.30 both by doing it over 5.25 and uninstalling 5.25 then installing 5.30...crash on start of quake2 in ogl

so the next thing is to see if it will work with the 5.30 icd in 5.25

Thanks rags: your first advice sorted this 503+/G200 MillSGRAM; but why does Adaptec "showscsi" show two "host adaptors?" - the second using the VIA driver?

I have seen that before, but with Zip SCSI adapters, try booting into safe mode and deleting all SCSI adapters in device manager, then reboot.
