• Haig-- this might be an interesting question

Hi, Haig!

So here's the deal... you know I'm engaged to Jorden. I'm in the US, he's in Holland, thank God for the Internet, hurrah! You may not know that he (with the connivance of ALBPM/Paul) bought me a MAX (yet to be installed).

From another thread I surfed I learned that the RR-G has "European connectors" and "American connectors", as well as different tuners, naturally.

Now, I really want an RR-G (when the tools come out, hint hint).. but if I have a US MAX , can I attach a European RR-G to it? Or did you mean by "connectors" the external connectors to the TV/VCR, instead of the internal pins? Am I just destined to be RR-G-less when I get to Holland in a month or 2, or can I maybe trade for a European one if necessary... you see I'm driving myself nuts, here... help me Obi Wan Haig, you're my only hope

Hi Holly,

All RR-G cards will work with the same Max. The only difference between all RR-G cards is the TV Tuner. Europe just HAS to be different ya know

They both have the same composite and s-video in/outs. Jorden might have one of them weird tv's so if you want to output anything to your tv, you would have to buy a scart cable from Europe.

Do you 2 plan on live streaming your wedding in the internet ?

Hi Haig,

One the last question the first answer: That depends on the Matrox Max and Maxime you promised us If an RR-G fits on both we could give you streaming video

(btw, Holly knows the thread where you promised the Max and Maxime!!! )

Is a Philips a weird TV?? Normal Scart-connection. Even S-video in for a VCR, and the thing is 5 years old... weird or inovating??

Just hope the weird RR-G she gets does know the difference between NTSC and PAL ...

Btw Haig, why not give her a Marvel G400 with all the ins and outs instead??

Jorden, only wanting a G650 with either a pink board or blue board, depending on the sex of the baby

Greetings Jorden,

rest assure that both you and your better half can share the "normal" RRG together It's smart enough to see both PAl and NTSC
but only one type of TV signal.

That Phillips is not bad. At work, I have the luxury of a huge Loewes TV. Scart/S-video/and composite in/outs.

Give her a Marvel? What's she going to do with her Max?

Besides, the app that comes with the RRG is Ulead MS Pro 5.02VE. This is what you want.

Thanks for answering, Haig! I feel much better now...!

Jord, hon, did you forget I want dual monitors? so I must regretfully decline the Marvel...

But since you "only" have a vanilla G400, and since you did ask me to remind Haig of his rash promise... here it is:

Greetings lovebirds,

Matrox will donate a G400 Max and a G400 Maxime to the newlyweds.

Let it be known that is NOT "just a video card" anymore

Holly, Holly, Holly,
I tried to tell Paul you didn't need that Max, and he shoulda brought it to the LAN party for one of us...I knew you would remember Haig's promise, and pin him down on it eventually...

But whod'a thunk it would really happen?

Sorry to interrupt,

But I think I have a question that might be (semi)-related....

I've been corresponding with Daniel Lawrence for the last few days (I was just reading the other thread from madman and wanted to say he's doing a good job, 2 replys in 2 days, I'm impressed) any way....

I've been asking him about the use of the TV-out feature in the PD 5.3 settings which refer to RGB SCART. Basically, I live in Australia and recieved the composite/s-video tv cable, however I have a tv with RGB SCART, not svideo. So I wanted to bodgey up a cable I could use instead.

I've been told
"Dear Sir,
We do not release the pin outs for our cards.
"

DOH.....

Why? (if you don't mind me asking)

BTW is what I've described above possible?

Haig?..... anyone?

Dunno about in Auz but here in the UK composite or S-video to SCART leads are readily avialable in electronics stores.

And hey by the time the loving couple get married won't the G400 MAX and Maxime be a little passed their sell by date?

Ant - that's why Matrox can afford to give them away...
Back to the streaming of the wedding night - anyone seen the film American Pie? That's what they need to do!
Kruzin - 'freaks of nature'? that's not very nice! And, I can say with around 284% certainty that I am neither Holly, or Jorden. mmmmmkay? Hmm, marrying myself, that'd be interesting.

Well, yes there are cables that do s-video to SCART, but there only good if your trying to use the s-video variant of SCART. I need RGB SCART (also known as sync on composite RGB). You see, the trick is there are two(three if you count the japanese) standards of SCART, both carrying audio in/out, composite video in/out, one carrying RGB and the other carrying s-video. They are basically the same however:

pin 15: will carry either RGB red @ 0.7v or
chrominance (svga) @ 0.3 v bursts.

pin 16: will carry a signal stipulating the type of signal the cable carries. 1-3v for RGB or 0-0.4v for composite.

pin 20: composite or luminance, depending on 15 and 16.

THe trick in this case, is getting the pins on the video card to actually change their behaivour. Is this the case when I change the seting in the driver?
It would be nice to get some idea of what the card is doing before I lug my machine into work tomorrow to hook it up to a CRO.

Thanks

PS When is the big day, mines coming up, 9 weeks and 5 days.......
