  • HAPPY BIRTHDAY, MURC!!!

Goodness, how the time flies! Has it been 4 years <u>already</u>? In that case, let me be the very 1st to say:

    <center><font size="6" font face="Kabel BD" font color=#CFB53B> HAPPY BIRTHDAY, MURC!!!! </CENTER></FONT>

Ant... Anthony, you're amazing. Haven't been by the actual MURC page in some time... boy, it really got a birthday makeover, didn't it? It looks <u>great</u>!!!! Love that new logo... and the new site names...

Listen, I came here, what is it now, 6 months ago just hoping for some way to play HL in OGL, D3D, anything... nothing ran right with my poor G200... and most other forums, I guess, once we'd managed to get me running, that would have been the end of our relationship... but this is the MURC...

I've watched the forum community survive what has got to be some of the bitterest conflict these forums have ever suffered, been helped by people and helped people in return, made real friends and met the man I'm going to marry, found out I really can stand among the geeks and not be laughed out of town, and even started to believe that one day, not too long from now, even, I could gain enough skill to stand <u>proud</u> among them...

Oh, btw, did I mention that I was told that all these things were and are impossible to achieve on the Internet???

Well, whoever said that ain't been to the MURC, apparently... and the MURC is you, Ant, ...and Phil, kjliew, ThisIdiot, Steve and Maggi on G-Tech and naturally Haig, and us as well... but, really, Ant, the MURC just wouldn't be what it is if it wasn't for you.

So let me be the first to say:

    <center><font size="5" font face="Kabel BD" font color=#CFB53B> CONGRATULATIONS!</font>
    <font size="5" font face="Kabel BD" FONT COLOR=#FF1CAE>Thank you....!</font>
    and
    <font size="5" font face="Kabel BD" FONT COLOR=#238E68>Keep up the good work!!!</font>
    <font size="6" font face="Kabel BD" FONT COLOR=#CFB53B>EXCELSIOR!!! LONG LIVE THE MURC!!!</FONT></center>

    What? System specs? Oh, yes, right...well, at the moment, it's: Soyo 5EMA, K6-2 333, 256MB PC100 SDRAM, Maxtor 7GB HDD, LS-120, Promise Ultra33 EIDE controller, Diamond Monster Sound MX300, HP 8100i CD-RW, Hi-Val (Nakamichi) 16X 5-disk CD changer, Win98 +SR1...oh yeah, and a Millennium G200 8MB SGRAM.

P.S.... Hey! not too shabby, and no edit needed (but for to make the smiley in my .sig change)...! that's the fault of you lot too, you know... you think I thought I could code HTML before I started hanging out here???

        Wow. What Holly said.

This really is a community. It seems many of us picked Matrox as our video card for the same reasons that these forums work as a community. We are like-minded in that we know and care about quality and appreciate the attitude of a company that strives for true excellence in what they do. Speaking of Ant and my fellow forum members, I can say that it takes quality people to appreciate quality in anything.

I have only been here for a couple of months, but I already feel a part of things here, and I thank you all for making me feel welcome.

Wow thanks folks. My primary aim with the MURC has always been that it should be more like a real world user group and a community which is what it hopefully is, and not some "lets say nice things about Matrox to get free hardware" site. Otherwise I really would have given up a very long time ago

Well, the gods know we're surely not hanging about here for the "free hardware", Ant!!

Sounds like a fast way to get old and bitter to me...

Or did I get here after it had all run out, then...?

Yeah, most places give a dead easy question and a premium rate number to call, I haven't even heard of most of the games mentioned in the competition.

Now, how DO I get Doom to work in OGL?!....
