Considering purchasing a Matrox G400 MAX? Think again, the Permedia3 Create! is a better choice at a lower cost! Please visit http://www.3dlabs.com/products/p3vg400
<http://www.3dlabs.com/products/p3vg400> for a full comparison between the Permedia3 Create! and the Matrox G400 MAX."

Anybody feel like sicking someone like "the banished" upon them?

Sounds like they had a G400 (not a MAX). Isn't the RAMDAC in the non MAX 304 or so? That would account for the lower max 32Bit resolution I think. I know I've had my system at 1600x1200@32Bit color depth. They are I believe "legally" liable for slanderous and obviously untrue statements.

Go sue their @$$e$ off Matrox....

I sent a little nasty-gram to these blatantly "in my opinion" idiots.... Do they think they can get away with these obviously erroneous statements?

Here's a copy of the message

I think you had better start fixing the obviously “erroneous” information on your site regarding the G400 MAX. I went ahead and printed the pages for hardcopy (dated and timed).

The data you posted is obviously from a G400 not a MAX.

I personally have seen my system run @ 1600x1200x32Bit color depth so that is obviously a mistake – (That could be read as slanderous or liable – and could cost you a fortune in legal fees).

Here’s a snippet from their website – which includes the “supposedly” missing NT drivers…. Hmmm – care to answer this one..

            Win 95/98 Win NT4 Win
            NT 3.5x Win 3.1x OS/2 Win
            2000 Misc.

            Millennium
            G400
            5.30.007
            4.22.081
            2.51.094
            1.61.004
            2.31.100
            BETA
            4.90.068
            ICD

Hmmm – Mini MCD – I don’t think so. The latest drivers include a Full ICD along with an Optimized mini-ICD for certain games… That does not qualify as not having a Full ICD I believe….

I cannot refute/qualify the claim on Interrupts so I’ll let that one go…

            To summarize…

Fix the chart … It’s incorrect.

Quantify your statement – with irrefutible 3rd (non-involved) party information regarding timings and interrupts.

Correct the statements regarding the OpenGL ICD issue.

Fix the statement regarding the Driver versions and supported OS as well as those available for download at the Matrox Site.

Fix the statement regarding the RAMDAC speed.

Fix the statement regarding the Maximum 32Bit resolution.

Oh, and by the way. This message has been forwarded to a well known Matrox related site – so you may get more feedback than you bargained for….

It is interesting that they concentrate on NT - it is certainly where Matrox are most vulnerable. I don't know of any NT/2000 users that haven't had pretty serious reservations about how well they will be supported by Matrox.
