I did install a new Maxtor 10.2GB IDE Hdd. Could it be the hard disk? It was weird because the voodoo2 worked fine before I did my little 'upgrade'. The only thing that I know was that everything was working fine before I put in the G400.
Because there was obviously a C-O-N-F-L-I-C-T somewhere and by removing the V2 you eliminated that C-O-N-F-L-I-C-T. But then again it could have been a power supply issue and by upgrading to a newer hard drive and removing the V2 you could have reduced the strain on the the power supply thus also eliminating your problems. Either way I am now glad that it is working for you. So go and enjoy.

Libertarian is still the way to go if we truly want a real change.
Regarding your question about the HDD.. I've had a couple of Maxtor drives (but nome since the days when 7 or 8.4GB was the biggest size) and I've noticed that AutoDetect in the BIOS of any board I've had can't read the size correctly, forcing you to use the MaxBlast overlay program (which can cause problems in itself).
I wouldn't worry about it, but I do suspect this condition of causing subtle errors and conflicts in seemingly unrelated ways, on my system at least. And of course, Maxtor may have solved this problem in the current generation of drives...but I don't think I'll be getting another one, nonetheless. I do think you should open up 'My Computer' or System Info and confirm that the size of your drive being reported to Windows is correct, just to be sure.
But don't become unduly concerned... a working system is 9/10ths of... a working system...

What? System specs? Oh, yes, right...well, at the moment, it's: Soyo 5EMA, K6-2 333, 256MB PC100 SDRAM, Maxtor 7GB HDD, LS-120, Promise Ultra33 EIDE controller, Diamond Monster Sound MX300, HP 8100i CD-RW, Hi-Val (Nakamichi) 16X 5-disk CD changer, Win98 +SR1...oh yeah, and a Millennium G200 8MB SGRAM.

I am glad that all is working for you now. But youshould at least admit your blame in all of this.
You blamed Matrox, you trashed TS while they were right and you posted everywhere that the G400 was no good and that TS did not know what they were doing... You should at least admit that you were wrong and that all was related to the way your system where configured... hence your own errors and mistakes. See no need to trash people to get help.
Armyworm. You can not force sombody to admit sompting. But Madman says alredy that the G400 is very good when it's works.

My concern is with growth. You must grow to become one, to become whole, to become sane. I am not going to force sanity upon you. Rather, I am going to bring out your insanity. When it is pulled out completely, throw into the wind, sanity will happen to you, you will grow. You will be transformated. That is the meaning of meditation

Something very strange happened to my system today. I had to go to class in the morning, and so I left my system on to copy a CD. I came home and turned on my screen only to see my boot up screen with the message "Primary HDD failure". How odd. I remedied the problem by turning the computer off and turned it back on again. Does anyone know what may have caused this? I was using Adaptec EZ CD Deluxe 3.5 Thanks.
I have got this error on occasion. I suspect it may be a power problem causing the HD not to spin up on occasion. I have not seen this error happen on systems with good mains power (clean sine waves)

If this hard drive error happens to you, I would suggest purchasing new and better grade ribbon cables, especially on a SCSI system. This solved my problem. Granite Digital seems to have just about the best SCSI cables you can buy.

Seems like that our area at that time had a power failure. I guess that's why my system rebooted. I wasn't at home then so I didn't know :P Sorry bout that guys :P
