  • G400 MAX and Faster CPU

Ive seen a couple of video card round ups and such including a bunch of cards (Savage2000, GeForceDDR, TNT2, TNT2U, G400 MAX, G400, v3 3500) on different speed processors ( pIII 450, pIII 600, Athlon 500, Athlon 700) and i noticed something odd. On the slower processors the G400 MAX was slower than the TNT2 and TNT2U, but as the processors speed increased the performance on the G400 MAX and G400 increased much faster than other. So the MAX started out the 4th fastest and ended up being the second fastest! So what does this mean. Right now CPU's are a bottle neck for the MAX? Cuase if so thats absoultly awesome. This also means that any system running a v3 or a TNT2 is VIDEO CARD limited. I like my MAX!! : ) : ) : )

BTW all tests were in high resolution (1280 and greater) with high detail in Q3.

A future-proof PC component, why didn't anyone else think of that?....

            Sorry Wombat,

            but a Floppy was future-proven ...
and a power-supply is only lasting when it gives your half a KW ...

Well I'm not sure what's so awesome about a video card that need an insanely fast processor to edge out the competition. What would really be awesome is a card that performs like a champ with a P2/K6-2 350!
(and yes the drastic framerate drops in UT and Q3A during intense action are getting to me! )

Yeah I guess I would miss EMBM if there were any games I play that actaully used it! (UT and Q3A the biggest games of the year - no EMBM)Sure is nice to watch on the techdemo though. Still with all it's short comings the G400 provides the best over all solution for me...

How about upcoming Max Payne? It's going to be a great game and 3DMark uses the same engine, so the chances are good that EMBM is exploited there.

                    Hey Maniac,

why don't you go out and buy a G-Force then ???

But don't come back howling that you miss your DH & EMBM features ...
