  • When G400 Win2000 drivers????????????

Hi. As many of you guys can observe that win 2000 pro is out (only for OEM) I'm one of that crowd of people who got it, but there is no drivers for g400. they are still beta (and suck) drivers. When they gonna release full working drivers with power desk, turbo gl, etc. I suppose that they should have new drivers ready, but I don't know for what they are waiting. If microsoft deceided to release early win2000, matrox should do the same. Now I'm really considering changing card for geforce (at least I have drivers) and I'm not gonna wait at least a month before Matrox will wake up and give us new set of drivers. How OEM manufactures can sell computers with matrox cards when they don't have drivers??? time it's money.

I recommend you return your G400 and get a GeForce immediately. Official GeForce W2K drivers can be found here:

Just wait until the 17th of February. Matrox are going to have absolutely perfect drivers by then because so far they have been able to identify and fix every problem without releasing any more public betas.

Yep, my computer sucks all the time, only matrox drivers are working flawlessly. be serious, matrox always have been problems with drivers and only recent turbo gl helped them keep reputation as a good vendor. If they didn't do that, they would be out of business long ago.
I hope that they gonna have PERFECT drivers on 17 feb, cause I'm willing to change my card on geforce. When I bought matrox g400 I cared about dual head capability as well as hardware dvd. Now I don't have to because I have stand alone dvd player and there is nothing speacial with matrox that I have to still keep it and wrestle with it. No I have a lot of possibilities. they only thing which keep me with matrox is sentiment because I was always a matrox fan, but everything/everybody is changing!!! Isn't it??

Oh good lord, come off it already. The TNT/GeFarce drivers are a buggy hunk of crap. The 3dfx drivers are no better, and aren't even official.

The Matrox drivers are coming along just fine, the new prototypes look very nice (less bugs, better performance, etc. etc.) on my system.

So yes, your computer sucks. If you are having major bugs that fall outside the category of "graphics glitches", and you aren't running an SMP system, then your machine is fuXX0r3d...

So go get your GeFarce, then you can go harass the idiots over at the nVidia boards with:

"When will nVidia have final Win2k drivers already!?!?"

              I would still get screwed

                  Ho ho!!!
I didn't say that "...having major bugs that fall outside the category of "graphics glitches", .... I SAID that they are beta drivers and don't have all feature which I had before under win98 like monitor settings and refresh rates, custom resolutions (I can't use 1280*960) at 1152*864 I can only get 75hz which is TOO low for my monitor.I'm pissed off that I have to use 1024*768*85hz!!! I much more care about those reatures than games compatybility, I don't really know how gefores cards are running under w2k, but always we can grumble about that stuff to hasten up Matrox's guys

well, i have a some probs with the g400 drivers in win2k, just on some games tho. midtown madness doesn't detect screen sizes over 640x480, which is a bit crap really. thats the only problem i have found. unreal tourney plays at 1024x768 with everything just fine, just fine...

Am I missing something here? I've been running the drivers with W2K 2194 ever since they came out, with no serious problems. I'll think you'll find that these are the most mature W2K drivers availible for any recently released videocard (NVidia, 3DFX, Matrox etc).

You must be patient, young padowan

After reading your post again, it occurred to me that you may be running the old beta (?!) drivers. The original Matrox driver release for W2K was just to get the cards working in W2K, but came with almost zero functionality (No D3D, no Powerdesk, poor 2d acceleration). But the newer ones (Version 5.00, look for them on this site) include everything except TurboGL.

It's possible that the OEM did not install these latest drivers. When I bought a Dell system a couple of years ago that came with a (then new) RIVA 128, the installed drivers were very poor, and a quick peek at Nvidia's driver page remedied the situation

                            Hey mlody,

If you don't want to wait for those refresh rates use powerstrip. than you have control untill Matrox releases new drivers.
Are you sure you have the latest build? Because with RC2 there are more probs with te beta Matrox drivers...
O yeah, and Nvidia isn't so great they use..Lotus Notes and the site isn't secure.. http://www.nvidia.com/catalog.nsf ooooops

I mailed a dozen times...but they haved secured the leak yet...stupid

                            No more tired eyes!!

Your gonna switch to a GeForce in search of stable Win2k drivers??? hahahahahhahahaha The damn GeForce doesn't even have stable Windows 98 drivers smart guy; what makes you think the Win2k ones will be MORE stable? Matrox's beta Win2k drivers are more solid than Nvidia Win98 Geforce ones.
