I have had no problems with mine with either PowerDVD 2.55 or Matrox DVD. Even when I overclock it.

A fresh install of Windows? Did you remove the entire Windows directory than re-install? I had to do that to get my machine to reconize my ZIP drive and not crash when I moved my DVD window around or when something went on top of it. That was both annoying and weird.

I would suggest backing all of your perishables up, removing the Windows directory entirely, and then installing Windows again. Doing that, as much as a pain in the ass as it is, did wonders for me.

Oh, and I also removed all the PCI/ISA cards aside from the G400. And reinstalled each one at a time.

I am also experiencing floating "blue pixels" and posted this problem in MURC back in December '99. (see 'Overlay Problem'). These pixels not only occur in DVD playback but also when watching WinTV through a Hauppauge TV card (in overlay mode, not in primary). The pixel effect is not evident on DVD playback to television, only on the monitor.

I have tried the following without success:
      (1) using the most up to date G400 drivers (ver 5.41)
      (2) changing a number of bios settings
      (3) removing all PCI cards (except soundcard), hard drive format and reinstallation of Win98

Since the blue pixel effect can be removed when watching television by switching off the "allow overlay" and using "force primary" I guess the problem is connected with dxmedia and overlay. Hauppauge supply a utility for switching between overlay and primary but this has no effect on the Matrox DVD software.

In December I emailed Matrox Tech support but as yet they have not replied!!

I had a G200 card before the G400; both DVD video playback and TV were perfect on it.
