Ad B,
I'm willing to help you (and so is Tim, I vouch for him at this point), if you're willing to give us the info we've been asking for so long.
So we start from scratch, okay?
If that means you have to reformat inbetween or reinstall drivers, move cards, move IRQs, or even go back to a more stable and useful Windows version, what do you think?
I'm not going back through all the posts, you'll have to do that yourself. I've asked enough info, and never got anything (useful).
So, truce for the moment, and you get off your one-line answers<and damn lazy butt>, that doesn't help us or yourself <fool> a bit.
What do you say?

OK but first you have to help me, get my P233MMX running in my BX MoBO at atleast 1GHz (well I might settle for 233*4, 933).
But no I will not install any software, give you any more info on my system, or add any cooling in any form. And I will only use an adapter if nothing else will work, and then you have to give me the specs, so I can make it myself, out of beer cans (Oh yeah if neccessary, it must be made of beer cans).
I know this must be able to work, so get to helping me, because ...Oh never mind

Mark, that's easy... just get rid of all your PCI/AGP/ISA cards, but for the old Millenium I ISA card (1Mb), then OC the heck out of your PC and you'll prolly get to 933 for 15 minutes, before the CPU burns to a nice crisp, taking your MOBO with it, nothing said about memory. Then goto your insurance company, complain and explain and get a money-back. Then buy a nice Eclipse from Greebe and you'll be OC'ing your Athlon to beyond your possible dreams

Back to Ad B: Take none of the above (after my initial post trying to help you again) very seriouslyJordâ„¢

I knew I forgot something, I will not change the multiplier or FSB.
and Jord it's got a Mill II. But I could borrow a Mill I from a friend's Dell P200MMX
Oh, and wasn't the Mill I also a PCI card. I think the MGA was the ISA.
Ad B-
It would be really good, if you want help to help us.

Don't take any of this too personally, Ad B. Someone called us "a bunch of bigass geeks" the other day, and I think it put us all in a bad mood.
Now we all have to go out and buy that stupid "Buns of Steel" video and spandex workout clothes.

:0) No prob, doesn't sounf to difficult!
I solved the Q3A black screen prob. It was something to do with powermanagement in the BIOS. I turned everthing off, and hey presto it works fine.Odd.
About 3dmark2k, it's still being a bit of bum.
Tell me what you wanna know about my PC.
Oh, and someone said that the ACPI controller was on IRQ 9, and said it was odd that it was there. I guess win2k likes it there, I can't move it.
I'll get going on getting that 233 to 933 soon, thanks ^-^

ok, for starter:
1) list all the components in your computer (brand/type)
2) list the irq assignments
3) problem(s)(be very specific, ex: problem with screensaver - would not do. valid one would be ex: set screen saver to 3D flower box and the screen went blank and locks up)
4) anything else that you feel is relevant to your problem(s)
think of it this way.. if a friend asks you to fix his or her computer, you would usually go to his or her house and identify what hardware/software he or she is using before doing a diagnostic right? well, we can't see what you have/using, so you have to 'show' us just that before we can make a proper diagnostic and give you a possible solution.
good luck

It would be really good, if you want help to help us.
The help us, I was refering to is, you could give us the info asked for in the above post. As it stands we don't know much more than that you are haveing atleast a problem, and maybe more. In order to help with most less than common problems, we realy need some basic info on the system. It's explained realy well in the above post so I won't elaborate. The OCing question was for Jorden (well sort of). But as long as you want to help!!!

Using MGATweak to OC.
The Problem:
Okay, the screensaver problem doesn't bug much. I can live with it.
The Quake 3 Problem is still around though, changing Power Management Settings cures it, but obly for a short period of time. If I leave Q3A on for a 5 minutes or more, when I exit the PC locks and the screen goes blank.

OK AdB!!! We're getting somewhere now. Far enough along to tell that I'll be no help though, as I don't run 3d games, and that seems to be the gist of your problem.
A bit of advice though. When Jord or MarkF ask a question, answer IN DETAIL. And follow instructions to the letter just as if you were reading a recipe.
As GlareC said above, we aren't there to notice small details about how the problems occur, and you are going to have to help us by providing as much detail as possible.
One other bit of advice. As you are provided with tips and instructions, post back with what you did. At this point a reply of "I tried that" won't help. For example, if you go through an uninstall/reinstall take notes about exactly how you did it, and post back what you did.
Your problems are not unique and there is a solid knowledge base here to help you if you will only provide the necessary information.
IMHO though, you're just pushing some old hardware too hard.
Just 'cause a proc. boots doesn't mean it's stable, especially 3d/SS7 combos.

Okay,
First thing I did was put Ad's IRQ list in a more readable form.
1 Standard 101/102-Key or Microsoft Natural PS/2 Keyboard
3 Communications Port (COM2)
4 Communications Port (COM1)
5 Sound Blaster 16 or AWE32 or compatible (WDM)
6 Standard floppy disk controller
7 3Com Windows Modem TI
8 System CMOS/real time clock
9 Microsoft ACPI-Compliant System
11 Matrox Millennium G400 DualHead Max
12 PS/2 Compatible Mouse
13 Numeric data processor
14 Primary IDE Channel
15 Secondary IDE Channel
Guys, what does Win2k do with IRQ#2?
Ad: Did you flash your mobo's bios to the latest as I gave you a page before?
