So far, replacing a 16m sh for another 16m sh has fixed this for some people. That other thread mentions that this might be a bad batch which is not the case. Too many serial #'s from different batches.

We do have 2 RMA'd boards running tests over the weekend. I'll see what happened to them on Monday.

If you guys want to have an RMA, that's fine with me. Just send us an email from our web site and TS will process it right away.

One more question - what card do you guys have that is closest to our card?

      Haig,

you mean inside the computer? I have a Live! in the third PCI slot from the G400 but I removed it and I still get the same problems. I'll try to use the card in a different machine to see what it does. How long does it take for a RMA?

        Ohhh! you're good...very very good.

I love a good bug hunt!

Yes, I'm referring to inside your Pc. Don't know how long it takes to get a board shipped back. Tech supp will just process the RMA and then forward off the case to them. They will then contact the client back and arrange shipping.

            red2,

no it's not a jitter. I mean, what you experience may be well described as a jitter but so far in this thread as well as in the others the topic is not what you experience but, apparently, those horizontal black lines that are common to several people.

            MadCat,

I don't think it's EMF. If it were, the flickering would be a constant problem. But in our case it's not - it's only apparent in just a few, well-isolated contexts.

What baffles me is that in 3D, where a card's capabilities are more directly challanged and where the flaws (in design, in parts, etc.) should be more clearly visible, all the cards I've tried work extremely well in high resolutions and at increased chip/memory clock. Someone who knows the workings of videocards in more detail should have a clue about what's going on. I think the behavior of these boards is curious and particular enough to give someone a hint. If so, please share it with us. I am more than curious.

            Thanks all.

                OK guys!!!

                Haig asked for some Information.

If you have this problem, give it to him.

Darksyd is the only reply to his query about adjacent cards, and the man needs to know.

Post in Darksyd's format your mechanical card configuration from AGP to the bottom of your M/B.

The Specific models of cards would also be useful, I'll bet.

Information is the mothers milk of troubleshooting.

Given the trend of this thread, I'll bet it would also be useful for Haig to know what type Power Supply you have. (Model and wattage.)

Livius, The onboard Ultra 66 controler usually will share resources with slot 3, so try your SB Live in slot 2.

I don't know if this is of help, but I also own a CL TNT & lots of people were having shimmering problems with those, Some people tracked it down to "Cheap" power supplies, Personaly I would be interested to know what mains voltage are the people with problems running? Ie 110-115 or 230-250?

                      Regards

I've only recently seen this thread although I've been having similar problems to the ones you describe, only it seems in Direct Craw games do these horrible horizontal lines occur usually only 1/5 of the screen long (horizontally) and maybe one or two pixerls wide flickering all across the screen! Not in 3d window or f/s, not in windows generally ONLY in Full screen DD games such as Roller Coaster Tycoon, Age of empires 2 etc,

Modem/SBlive/USB share IRQ 7 (forced via bios) WinTV Forced on 3, G400 on 10, Lan on 9, Serial 1/2, Parallel disbaled in bios.

Everything works perfect 100% stable apart from this annoying glitch which makes some of my favourite games look terrible!!!

Using a cheapo 230W power supply on UK mains

Getting a 300W tommorrow will post results then.

Interesting thought about power supplies. All 3 of the machines I have tried this 400 in (including my own) have Enlight 250w supplies.
                          Coincidence?

                            I have a 250W PS

My initial problem was the lines across my screen, now my screen jitters-vibrates left and right. My lines weren't black though, they were kind of translucent, kind of like old TV's before vertical sync worked, except of course my screen is not scrolling.

                              Zwisch,

no - my SB Live! is on IRQ5 and the HPT366 on IRQ 9 (done a little bios tweaking).

I have a 235W/220V power source, but it's true that I also have 2 large Sunon fans, each working with some 2,6W. On the other hand, I've had the problem even since before I got those fans.

When I had this problem I tried 3 different PS'es: Aopen 235W,300W and an Enlight 230W. And why would the 32MB model draw less current than a 16MB one, as the "flicker" dissapeared when i swapped?
                                As for the SN:
One was jbk36791, and the other was Kxxxxxxx(can't remember exactly).
In My BE6, the cards WAS ordered as follows:
                                AGP-G400 16MB singlehead
                                PCI-open
                                PCI-SB live
                                PCI-open
                                PCI-open
                                PCI-open
                                ISA-open
                                ISA-open
                                onboard HPT366

                                Jan.
