    osmanb,
I'm sure the problem is with the motherboard. Specifically, the AGP slot has an intermittant, or bad, connection. The clear sign of this fact is the "green Screen". Doesn't matter that it doesn't happen just on cold boot.

Stuff like this happens. In the case of Athlon motherboards it occurs with far too much frequency. I have an Asus K7M with a bad CPU slot. The majority of the time the system refuses to boot at all!! Originally, I didn't have any friends with Athlons to try any swapping. When I was finally able to try swapping processors, the K7M was obviously the problem. Once that was replaced with an Epox 7KXA. All my issues disappeared. Now if I can just get the vendor to replace the defective board I'll be happy again. Emailing Asus Tech support resulted in no replies.

Good Luck with that Vendor!!! I have a feeling that you're gonna need it.

Something was funky with that system anyway. IRQ9 shouldn't be empty, me thinks. I have ACPI as well (not enabled), but my G400 still takes IRQ9, and the system is happy.

I had a G400 MAX fat and happy on my MSI6167 in the following setup:

Full Tower case w/ Antec PP-303X 300 watt PS, Athlon 550 OCed to 650 w/K7OC card and an Arctic Circle at 1.70v and 2/5 L2, MSI 6167 mb w/BIOS 1.3, 3x128MB PC100 ECC SDRAM CAS2, G400 MAX (no multi), Millennium II PCI, The Card Cooler, Two Mitsubishi Diamond Pro 900u monitors, 3Com 3C905B NIC, SoundBlaster Live!, DeskTop Theater DTT2500 DIGITAL Speaker System, Promise Ultra66 IDE controller, Two Maxtor 20GB 92048D 7200 RPM HDs, WD AC310100 10GB HD, Hitachi GD-2500 6x DVD-ROM, HP 8100i CD-RW, SyQuest Sparq IDE, SyQuest SyJet IDE, Epson Stylus Pro, OptiUPS PowerES 650, MS SideWinder Precision Pro USB joystick, Logitech 3-button mouse, Mitsumi keyboard, Win98 SE, Belkin OmniCube 4-port KVM, 10/100 5-port Linksys Ethernet switch, Epson 1200u scanner, Logitech QuickCam Pro with the little stand and the lense kit.

I don't remember the exact order the cards were in.

Anywho, the G400 MAX was on IRQ 3. I got it there by shutting off the second COM port in the BIOS.

It worked fine, even with the 5.52 drivers.

You might want to try shutting off COM2 in the BIOS, and telling the BIOS to reset the configuration data, and see what happens...

As for getting thing on their own IRQs... Not really possible with this board. The G400 was, but the 3c905 is sharing with the Live!, I think. The Ultra66 is sharing with the USB. The Millennium II was alone, I think.

          Just my $0.02

P.S. Ever want to know what happens if you use a real IDE cable to tie a Live! to the Digital I/O card? It catches wire 1 of the cable on fire. :-)
