  • Odd behavior w/ Win2k 5.10 & MAX

Ok, before i start calling in support from companies, i figured i would see if anyone here knew the answer first.

It started back when the certified drivers were released for the G400MAX and W2K. I decided i would give them a try (and noticing that they were the same as the G400 certified drivers), so i uninstalled 5.10 and installed 5.04. Decided i liked the 5.04 so i uninstalled them and installed 5.10 again.

Now, as a result, I have no hardware acceleration available. Of the 3 options under "display" in dxdiag (DirectDraw, Direct3d and AGP Texturing Acceleration) the only one that is even available is DirectDraw, and the other two are shown as "Not Available".

Numerous uninstalls and reinstalls of the drivers and DirectX have ensued, but nothing has fixed it.

And on a trivial note, the icons always display w/ the 16 color icons even tho "Show Icons Using All Possible Colors" is enabled. Same thing tho. worked fine, now it don't. can't get it to work right now.

    Anyone got any ideas?

Did you run PDUninst.exe before reinstalling? It's in the driver installation directory.

Yeah. it uninstalled, detected a VGA adaptor. reinstalled PD using the setup.exe program and rebooted/let it redetect.

What do you mean "redetect"? After you install PD, you should be done with hardware detection. Check the Device Manager and see if your video hardware is correctly listed. Something is wrong with your procedure.

"redect" in that the boot where i install power desk, it runs the VGA adaptor, the next boot it runs the "Matrox Millennium G400 DualHead MAX - English" driver.

Oopski. It turns out it is most likely a motherboard issue, seeing as that sorta crapped itself and won't boot into W2k anymore.
