M$ has succeeded in dumbing down too many people.
The cleanest way to install certainly does not include letting the 'standard VGA' driver install on the next reboot, just so you can run setup.exe

...But if you don't have a display adapter installed, then setup.exe doesn't work. So if you want a clean install using setup.exe, you do need to install the standard vga adapter.

            No offense, Rob.
If, on reboot, you'd let the G400 drivers install rather than the VGA drivers-----
THEN, you'd have a clean install.

I second getmatrox's 1st post (way up)and the *first* line in his second post... The only way to have a truly clean install, is to specify otherwise(other than the VGA drivers). In other words, no setup is necessary.

I personally have had problems w/ Q3A when I uninstall, reboot, and point to the new drivers rather than install standard VGA. I then update the drivers through the device manager. I don't think everything's cleaned out properly if you don't first install VGA. Haven't spent the time to pinpoint exactly where the discrepancy is but the VGA approach always works for me.

That's not using the setup.exe like I said. It doesn't matter. Personally, I normally let the vga adapter install, it's faster to run the setup.exe than to go through all the small steps (specifying the directory mainly), and once you're done, you get exactly the same result.

I was just flabbergasted when I uninstalled the PD6.00 drivers and was greeted on what was going to happen the next couple of minutes, in Dutch!! Way to go Matrox

Now I'm waiting for the G400 Dual Head - Dutch ... lol

Btw, I used the .inf file to install my new PD6.01 and have no problems.
