I have a G400Max and it sucks!!!
Problem No 1.
I had my G400Max in a Chaintech 6BTA2 with a 433MHz Celeron, but the boot up reported I had a 416 and now with a Gigabyte BX2000+ and a PIII-750, the boot up reports that I have a PIII-706!
Problem No 2.
I cannot get bus mastering to work with any OS other than Win95OSR2. I have tried two lots of BIOS and all drivers from 5.20 to 5.52.
Problem No. 3 (The most annoying!!)
If I install anything that effects the video, (Realplayer for example) the next time I boot the PC, the machine hangs at the point where the backdrop would 1st appear. The screen goes blank and flashing underline sits in the top left corner and thats it. I then hit the reset and the machine reboots. this time I get to the backdrop, but the screen is set to 640x480, 16 colours. A windows box appears telling me that the video settings are not compatible with my card. Hit OK and the Video properties box appears. The screen res is set to 1280x1024, 32bit colour, the only bit wrong is the font is set to small. I set the font to large and hit OK. The PC does a soft reboot and all is fine until I switch off and on again, then the same problem occurs. I have tried removing the card and letting windows re-detect it, reinstall drivers, DirectX etc, no effect. Does anyone know where this info is stored? as I have to re-load from a Ghost image to get rid of this.
Don't even ask me about the Dual Head!!! I have totally given up on that an brought a real-magic MPEG-2 card.
I am getting sick of this card. I am thinking of junking it and getting a VooDoo 5/5500.
It anyone has read this far, many thanks.
