Nope, DX8 will just add things like they have always done. DirectDraw and D3D will merge into a new DirectGraphics interface. But the older interfaces will still be there.

"We are talking about perhaps 2 or 3 writes instead of a single write when doing a state change. How much of a difference is that? When going from AGP2x to AGP4x you mostly see no significant speed improvements, "

We are talking about communication between the main processor and the graphic processor. not between memories and graphic processor. But i believe i understand what you trying to said.
So, did I mention memories? Copying data over the AGP bus is also called "write".

In fact nobody know the real cost of a driver work. But console game are working in this way and it's works fine.
It works since it doesn't need the flexibility, the API's are well defined and doesn't change.

About AGPx2 and x4 this not a good example. Because even pc133 memories can afford the bandwidth of AGPx4. In reality they did not even afford AGPx2.
PC133 has exactly the same bandwidth as AGP4x. You don't even see much of a difference going from AGP1x or even PCI to AGP4x.

soon we will need to make an article to answer each

Nope, DX8 will just add things like they have always done. DirectDraw and D3D will merge into a new DirectGraphics interface. But the older interfaces will still be there.

      I talk about the upgrade of DX8 -> DX9

      ----------------------------------
PC133 has exactly the same bandwidth as AGP4x. You don't even see much of a difference going from AGP1x or even PCI to AGP4x.

The truth bandwidth of P133 is not 1Go/s but 500/600 Mo/s. the bandwidth efficiency of SDRAM is much more less than RAMBUS or FCRAM.

      -------------------
But STOP, this is no sens to go in this way. We are not agree upon if G800 will be heavily optimised for DX8 or not. Only Matrox as the ansver. So we should have the ansver when the Comdex begin.

I think your arguements are good, and have respect for them

Have faith in Matrox' talent and direction. Be patient. The G800 Techdemo is almost done, and -is- going to blow your minds, no doubt about that.

Great but I what I want is a card to play games, if I wanted it for techdemos I'd have bought a GeForce2.

What we need is a card that supports as much DirectX 8 functions as possible, that does FSAA and that has enough power to play with all that great eye candy stuff.

Patryk, what he's trying to say is that it's close to being done. Don't be a whiner and claim it better have this or do that! Geesh

Sorry I thought I could share my thoughts on the G800, is it a problem?

Not so much of a problem, but you're the 50,000th person coming into these forums stating it better have this or do that. It's old, worn out BS. You nor I have any influence on what's coming down the pipe. If you don't have the patience to wait, then go ahead buy what ever you please. I won't care, nor would the other forum members here.

Also don't you think even slightly that Matrox might need the techdemo just before the card is released? Ahh, thinking cap must be turned on for it to work!

You know, this started out a benign question.

From what's the lastest rumour to arguement over DX8 support to AGP to just being plain grouchy.

                  Gawd, I love this board.

Maybe just a tad, but we've been all over this BS a thousand times. If he would have sat back and taken a look at what I said (including smilies) then even you might have gotten it.

But he didn't and had to aggravate. Then go on to edit his posts to make it look nicer on his part. Geesh how lame.

Today there are many "mini's" around, I don't take negative towards anyone (I was, at one time), but when making your first posts wouldn't it be prudent to watch your mouth at first? Just because this is common place elsewhere doesn't mean you can just do as you please here. This is just another one of the problem todays younger generation just doesn't get it at all. Would you speak to your parents, colleges, and or supervisor that way?!

BTW Barbarella, I wasn't looking for him to leave, just pay attention and enjoy. (yes I saw your message to him (now deleted).

The MURC forums are "normally" held to a higher standard that all other forums wish they had.
Until just reciently this has gotten out of hand and thus the moderator have been tightning up the collar. Rampant running of the mouth just don't get it here and many of the original members are just wondering, why oh why.

But of course what the heck do I know.

                                Greebe,

yes it's truth. I was just trying to contact him quickly. I saw him here, so i put what you have seen. I deleted it because i think it was a personnal message and has nothing to do here.
