Hey Greebe,
Let me reassure you It won't make me not sleep tonight...
Concerning the editing before saying BS you should ask, if I edited the messages it was for my english mistakes and typos but of course if you wanna have the last word then I'll let you play this game alone.PlaneteMatrox.Com

The PIT,
The info on Ace is the same that has been floating around these last few days and it's very similar to the precedent rumors, it sounds pretty good, I for one hope it's true.
What do you guys think of the 200Mhz DDR memory?
If it was to be true Matrox would have to use a technology like ATI's HyperZ to gain bandwidth because I doubt 6.4Gbyte/s would be enough for 1.800Mtexel/s.
Anyone?PlaneteMatrox.Com

Wouldn't that be 1.8 gigatexels ie 1800 megatexels?"Be who you are and say what you feel, because those who mind don't matter, and those who matter don't mind." -- Dr. Seuss

Patryk - PM, if the current crop of DDR based products are any indication, then no, 200Mhz ddr will keep the card from getting anywhere near it's max fillrate. If you add FSAA or other sub pixel sampling features, it definitely will not be enough (ie, framerates will drop dramatically). But, maybe Matrox does have some neat tricks up their sleeves.
Rumors were that Matrox was considering FCRAM, which supposedly is more efficient (lower latencies, so the number of memory ops/sec increases). That could help quite a bit. I don't know what clock rate FCRAM chips are shipping at (or even if they are shipping in quantity).
Of course, with those specs, the card will still make a great upgrade from a G400. Hopefully we'll hear something "official" at Comdex.

Man, I can't wait to see this techdemo. Good thing I bought the GTS so long ago (lol- just over 6 months ago now, long by nVidia's cycles), so I can justify purchasing a longer lasting replacement for it from Matrox, and sell it for maybe $200 smackers (more if I have the patience for online auctioning at E-Bay, I'm sure).

Of course I won't change anything in the G800 when it's more than likely already finished as I said I wanted to share my thoughts, of course I woudln't have done it if I knew I'd have some agressiv guy on the other side.
That you don't care about it is totally understandable but may be other persons would like to talk about what they would like to see in a next-gen card. I guess I should have introduced it in a different way, my fault.
Where did I say I didn't want to wait? Why are you talking of this subject when it hasn't even been mentioned?PlaneteMatrox.Com

...oh, forgot something...
Also don't you think even slightly that Matrox might need the techdemo just before the card is released?
Where did I say the contrary?
I'm sure the Zen Tao Interactive guys are doing an awesome job from what Matrox told me and as everyone here I'm eager to see what's cooking and visually I'm sure it'll be worth the wait.
Ahh, thinking cap must be turned on for it to work!
Are you feeling better now?PlaneteMatrox.Com

Stop playing with him Greebe : ) He said 1.800 Mtexels, but he's French. Must translate : )

Absolutely AJ, the rumors were talking about FCRam, if it was to be true it would give a boost to the bandwidth.
Matrox has always inovated in term of memory use but we yet have to see products using FCRam which by the way is more expensive than regular DDR.
I guess you guys already saw this great article but if it's not the case it's worth reading it. => http://www.toshiba.com/taec/componen...P_memory.shtml
Yeah, the Comdex would be the perfect place to announce the G800's technology, let's see what will happen...
If Zen Tao is finishing the techdemo it probably means the end of the tunnel isn't far. :-)PlaneteMatrox.Com
