Have you tried without the ACPI ?

I am currently running the CUSL2 on my MarvelG400 system without any problems, even with a PIII-700E running at 7x133MHz.

The ACPI is just another useless feature that the big companies came up with to annoy the users .
Unfortunately the only way to get rid of it, is to make a fresh installation of Windows with "Setup /p i" (typed exactly as I wrote, including the spaces)

What agp drivers are you using?

i still haven't got the cure for my problem yet. maybe i will try to install with acpi disabled like pertti said. after that i will let you know. the worst thing now is after i use the mtstu v3 (the newest one posted on this site) and change the agp speed to 2x i cannot get into windows, there's a popular blue screen of death with notes: windows protection error, blah blah blah, after i change it back to 1x via safe mode, it's ok again.

          hi,

          * remove all matrox files (use the uninstall utility from the same site you got the MTSTU300 file)
          * clear up the IRQ issues; one way to do that would be to remove the all cards from the system except for the video card and restart your system. Once the system is up, check to make sure that the video card is assigned its own IRQ and then power down and install the other cards on at a time.. restart system after each install.
          * IMPORTANT: get and install the Intel 815 .inf file
          * install the matrox 6.xx drivers
          * Use the utility to force the card to AGP 4x if it is not already so.

also make sure you don't have Plug and Play OS turned on in the bios, this solved problems for me. I use irq sharing and have no problems. I am using a CUSL2 with G400 regular 32meg DH

I think Maggi and kjliew are correct. The beer party on IRQ 11 must end.

If your Live is in PCI 1, the slot directly next to the AGP slot, put it elsewhere. PCI 1 shares an IRQ with the AGP slot.

On the CUSL2 the AGP slot shares IRQ signal with the onboard VGA.

                        hello all

thanks for all the input you giving me, like before, i've tried it all and still got the same conclusion.

i just wanna ask, how much of you got a 4x agp version of g400max? please let me know, if everything is still the same i think the problem is the g400max board i got that is an early version (board rev. a) with only 2x agp speed.

                        thank you

I've got an early G400Max AGP 2x, purchased september last year.
                          Had it in a BX6-2, BF6, BE6-II, P3B-F and CUSL2. Only had a problem with BE6-II.

                            Hi kustadi,

From your IRQ list, I see that Windows ME got installed in ACPI mode. Some motherboards don't like ACPI mode at all, others don't with certain bios's. Look for an updated bios for your motherboard, and try again.

i have tried all the possibilities you guys telling me. after i do a fresh install of win me, i force the card to run at 2x (mine is 2x only version, early g400max) but always after that the system restart and the minute i got into windows my screen become garbled and hang.

                                Hi kustadi

                                Some additional things to try:

                                1. Try reseating the G400 and make sure it's firmly and properly seated.

                                2. Disable Plug & Play O/S in BIOS.

                                3. In "Advanced -> I/O Device COnfiguration" disable anything you don't use, ie. Serial 1/2, parallel port and anything AC97.

                                4. It seems you've only got 2 cards (G400 & SBLive) so put the Live in slot 4, 5 or 6. You can also use slot 1 or 2, but might as well put it further from the G400 for better airflow.

                                5. Set your "FSB:SDRAM:PCI Freq. Ratio" to 133/100/33 (you have to set "CPU Internal Frequency" to Manual to do this) just to rule out shaky SDRAM.

Oh, and while your at it, try to go to the "Hardware Monitor" part of the BIOS. Stay there a couple of minutes and watch the temps. Preferably CPU shouldn't go much over 40C and the motherboard shouldn't go over 30C.

                                Cheers
