Steve: Well I agree, but I must say that Dell do have NVIDIA cards in a lot of their machines. i810 is limiting this now though The Quadro is finding homes in workstations too, but justified if it's for OGL rendering. I do agree with you though - anyone got that road map of Matrox products from a while back? It seemed quite likely.
Oracle: Hehe, I wouldn't trust our Steve Better not go in there!
Ant: Yea, but that is still a bad spot for M, I suspect they'll have lost a lot of good customers over that.
Paulcs: I agree that an NVIDIA name looks good on the box, and they'll be producing TNTs etc pretty cheap now, probably competitive with the G450! As for what Anand is reporting I feel it's been taken too seriously as the truth, whereas people should know Matrox by now. It would still have been nice to see a leak! The Number Nine statement seems so true - they fell away rapidly after that, thankfully Matrox made the G200 into a good OEM seller. This is the position they were in at the G200 point though, but I suppose they didn't have the OEM deals M do.
Galvin: M aren't that big a retail name, from a gamers point of view they are a niche market seller. As for the G400, I'll give you 50 bucks - if you pay delivery
paulcs: How can we stop them? Let's put some cheese in the works - let them get that in the fab process
GH: Wha'?
Joel: Elsa and Quadro names are often floated around in workstations...
Novdid: Yup, we can only hope! And you are right about the Radeon - they do seem to have shaken off the Rage fiasco(s!)
Rags: I see...I think.
Kim: Wha'?
Rags: Hehe, well he gets right up my ass! You might say he's talking out of his Aarhus
mj12: A few have Voodoo's? What are you buying? Do you mean the V3s in the Packard Bells? NVIDIA are still small in the OEM market though, as you say it's still the mid range products they've got, the integrated chipsets are taking the value PC end, and selling pretty well too. I certainly do see Matrox in OEM sites, Matrox do go OTT with the size of the OEM deals, but they do exist, and they do sell a LOAD to this sector. As for the NVIDIA product cycle? Well the TNT for a start is hopefully a mistake. The TNT2 was the same time. The 3 GFs you mention certainly aren't that far ahead of the G400, certainly not the 4 generations you imply. And, before I forget, I take it we're only talking in fps?
Liquid/Rags: Oh well, I've typed the above now so I'm leaving it in.
Amiga: Parla inglese?!
Casey: Hehe, yea, I want some!
Joel: Yup, but then your company knows which machines to get from OEMs
Jeff: I agree, but Matrox still have a larger slice of the OEM pie than NVIDIA - anyone have figures on this?
A-Dog: We're not here as gamers, that's why there is only one forum out of 12 for gaming. I've just posted this elsewhere, but to convert it into your analogy: I want a Honda Accord with clear windows and reliability etc, not a frosted window Porsche at the local garage for repairs. As for saying the G800 is great - well I think it will be great to me, and (Father) Joel as well. Taking the G400 as a reference point here, even though I've been on a TNT2 for ages. Incidentally, I didn't go to the theatre to see the Matrix. I'll wait until I see it on DVD, powered by ------, you know who!
Personally, I'm very glad that I sprang for the Porsche when I did. Mine hasn't given me any trouble yet (so I guess the garage is getting a little dusty around here), even though it obviously doesn't offer the ride that the Benz does. On the other hand, it's well suited for what I use it for primarily, and since I bought it when I did, when the old Benz model was getting a little old, it might (notice the might, as it's important, given the pace that Benz is releasing quality/performance models lately) hold me until the latest sports oriented Benz comes out.
Don't get me wrong, I'd have that Benz over the Porsche anyday for work purposes, but this is my home machine, and it's mainly for recreation, which is Porsche country right now.

Rags, in response to your thoughts on ASI's past driver issues, I'll point out how many OpenGL problems there are in ALL the Matrox drivers. If you are in need of a compatable OpenGL implementation, which would you choose at this point, Matrox of ATI? It may be a toss-up, but from what I've been hearing, for OpenGL, ATI may be able to run your applications better, just because their implementation doesn't have problems 2 years after the release.
I used to enjoy gaming but what with my web design and 3D I don't get the time.
I am interested in the G800 for the following reasons.
Amazing Dual Head
Incredible Image quality
Hopefully great OpenGL
Stupidly high resolutions
Gaming does not appear in this list so therefore I am happy to wait and see what they have to offer knowing that I am going to be as happy with the G800 as I am with the G400 becuase I believe they are taking their time delibratly to offer their customers the best product that they can produce.
On a speed not my mate has a TNT 2 M64 and a PIII 600 and my G400 32MB DH with my PIII 450 @ 504 kicks it's arse in 3D Mark 2000. The funny thing is he only plays games on his machine.

Can you be specific on what problems you are having with OpenGL, and what driver revision it's happening with?
My comment before was saying that if ATI can wipe away their history of crappy drivers (Matrox has had problems with OGL, and well...OGL, but they have been getting better recently), then Matrox should be able to do the same thing with releasing one hell of a gaming card, that's all.
Again, please educate me on your exact problems in OpenGL with Matrox's ICD.
