I was told it was available through these guys but I haven't been able to find it on their site. I'm trying to get clarification and I'll keep you posted.<TABLE BGCOLOR=Red><TR><TD><Font-weight="+1"><font COLOR=Black>The world just changed, Sep. 11, 2001</font></Font-weight></TR></TD></TABLE>

Fair enough. Thanks for the info.
Right now I'm dealing with the teething pains of adopting large screen NTSC after having lived with using a 20" TV and/or small 14-19" PC monitors. Using my 32" JVC I can see the scan lines and its kinda annoying. I even see them with VHS tapes. My choices are either dive in with both feet and get a minimum of a 480p 1080i TV, or downgrade to a 27" JVC for sharper image on the meantime, while I save up and wait to buy a larger home theatre display later on.
If its worth it now, I can dive in. I just have to find the right display at the right price.
Let me know about the TV yer talkin about. I would like to find something in Canada of course. TV's are prohibitively expensive to ship and hard to warranty when bought outside Canada!

That Toshiba that is on the Link you first posted above is actually cool looking. Expensive stuff though. Taking about cool but expensive, check this one out from your link:

The RCA TV you found looks pretty cool, check out the specs:
http://www.rca.com/content/productsp...CI207,00.html?
Gonna see if its to be found in Canada.
Thanks, ttyl

Toshiba TV's have nice looking sets and have picture tubes that fail often. I would stay away from them at all cost!
Even tho RCA's are designed ~3 mile from where I live, they are just ok in my book. Nothing to really write home about, especially since they laid off all the people in Bloomington IN that made the sets and setup shop in Juarez Mexico.
Panasonics are nice as are Sony (though I hear they're quality is slipping some lately)

KvHagedorn, I stand by my statement that those are gaps between the scan lines. I confirmed with my friend who uses a Barco to project onto a 10 foot screen ... even with progressive material and display, when not properly scaled, you will see the scan line gaps on larger displays. The consensus was that you need to stay below a 27" display size to not notice scan lines on NTSC output.
ccoltas, here's that link for the site selling the RCA for $1500. Note that this is the MM36100 model and not the MM36110 model that I pointed to. RCA.com sells both these models for $2000. I haven't looked close enough to detail the differences. Note that RCA also sells a 32", MM32110, which looks to have the same capabilities for $400 less. You'll need to check them out carefully to see if you can spot the differences.
Princeton Graphics also makes similar size monitors with similar capabilities.<TABLE BGCOLOR=Red><TR><TD><Font-weight="+1"><font COLOR=Black>The world just changed, Sep. 11, 2001</font></Font-weight></TR></TD></TABLE>

What I see watching VHS or DVD via PC output.
I see both the smaller dark spaces between the scan lines, and the scan lines themselves. The dark spaces are about a 1/4 the size of the scan lines. Its the contrasting dark spaces that make the scan lines visible. I agree a larger 32" TV makes the lines more visible because the spaces between the scan lines are larger. Its also possible the sharper signal of this TV (for an NTSC) just makes the lines more visible. Less noise and signal between the lines increases the contrast between the lines and the space between them.
I watch a 20" TV by lying on my stomach 3 feet in front of it and I don't see lines unless I look really hard for them. Sometimes I can't see any no matter how hard I try.
I decided on buying a 32" TV after watching "Gladiator" DVD with my PC hooked up to my friends 32" RCA. Can't recall severe lines on that TV.
The farther back I am from my 32" JVC, the less visible the lines are. But even at 9-12 feet, I can still make out the lines.
My choices are:
1) Is the set defective? Is it so sharp that it is making the scan lines more visible? Try another 32" JVC or another model of 32" TV and see if the lines are less visible.
2) See if a smaller 27" TV would not have scan lines. See if I can live with a smaller TV.
3) Try a 720i or 1080i TV. Ideally a 720p/1080i capable TV.
Thanks for the TV links. Checking them out now.
