I have a Cornerstone 50/95 altho dated (1600x1200 @ 75 max) has two different means of addressing this, side pin correction and vertical pincushion adjustments.

Looks like they left you guys out of the loop. Bummer

Cornerstone and iiyama are almost impossible to get in Canada. I never seen any store carry these two brands.

Greebe: oops...didn't know both of them are adjustable on yours. But mine doesn't have geometry problems.

Anybody using the Mitsubishi Diamond Pro series out there? Any comment on those?

Exactly, I'm running 1280x1024, and at 1600x1200 it gets ever so slightly blurry.
I'd like to run it higher till my eyes bleed.

It's always a bummer when you always one or two controls short. My Nec fe950 has basic vertical and horizontal converance control and adjustments for top and bottom as well.
However on the bottom I need to adjust one corner this you can do but then the other side goes out. I've sort of got a comprise right now but it's slightly frustrating at times.
Intrestingly if you go for a blue background it's more noticable.

NEC MultiSync FE950 - Love it. Great picture, sharp, no blurring, focus great. Looks good across a large number of attached video cards... (Through a Belkin 4-port KVM)

Sony G400 here, upgraded from a Sony G200..

wouldn't hesitate to recommend a Sony monitor to anyone.

I've seen some people complain about the 2 grey lines that are a result of the trinitron picture. I personally do not notice them anymore, unless I specifically look for them...

I have a Sony CPD 420GS, it came out just before the F/FD series. It's a very gorgeous monitor. I suffer from monitor paranoia too though, and send 4 of them back for relatively minor imperfections.

The cool part is that I ordered them from outpost.com, where the shipping is free AND overnight. I ordered at 7PM once and signed for the monitor at 8:45AM, under 14 hours. If you have the credit, you just order until you get a really good monitor, and send the other ones back UPS ground, no insurance, about $16 each.

Gigabyte P35-DS3L with a Q6600, 2GB Kingston HyperX (after *3* bad pairs of Crucial Ballistix 1066), Galaxy 8800GT 512MB, SB X-Fi, some drives, and a Dell 2005fpw. Running WinXP.

I'll probably attempt a Sony or NEC tomorrow after all this talk, then.

Question: if there is a power problem in this room/house -- and it is causing interference with any new monitor -- is there anything I can do besides move?

Dean you can always filter the mains however I think you're just being plain unlucky. You could always flex your muscles and try the monitor on a friends machine. If it was okay then it's either you graphics card or poss your mains supply.

                            "Filter the mains." Sounds dirty.

But I tried the Iiyama at a friend's house and it had the same problem (even hooked up to his Mac laptop), so until now I figured it was the monitor's fault.

And I'd be willing to spend the big bucks (heck, the Iiyama cost $650+ with shipping) just as long as the money goes to something worthwhile.

Fie on monitor problems. Fie, I say.

                                Oh dear, get this people:

I just went and got a replacement Viewsonic A90 at Best Buy. Hooked it up, wanted to see if I got the same right/left moire problems and BANG -- nada.

                                Nothing.

                                Black.

                                Zero.

The signal light would go to green when the computer was on, but that was it. Couldn't even see the monitor controls. Zippo.

So I'm now on my old Sony 15" insanely dark and blurry mini-monitor. It's like looking at a screen through three layers of sweaters.

Oh boy. It seems tomorrow shall be getting a refund on the Viewsonic, hopping on over to CompUSA, and picking up whatever 19" Sony they have. Wonder if any problems will arise there.

At this rate, I want to at least have a screen that I can see.

(maybe the MURC-ers should protest monitor manufactuers because they've caused me to pester the forums so much lately)
