Hello Dean
Have you considered buying reconditioned monitors? I have just bought a reconditioned 21 Sony g500 for approx 450 GBP. The picture quality is superb (much better than my mitsubishi 91+) and I have a standard Sony 3 year guarantee.

A stumper? Let's see...
We all know this test image right?

Well, I am currently using a brand new Sony e400 19" (monitor #4 for those keeping score). Looks nice. But see those fine horizontal lines above and below "DisplayMate Utilities"?
They're shimmering like crazy. Like the old Iiyama. Moire and covergence controls don't seem to affect it either. Nor resolution/refresh tweaks.
Time for a Windows re-install?

Yeah, most people tell me it's extremely sharp for them. But the lines are shimmering vertically like all get out again. This happens mostly in aperture grill monitors, I've noticed, while the shadow mask Viewsonic I had (the "working one") did not shimmer but had other moire problems.
Not much else to go on. Reinstall Windows. Try a Universal Power Supply. Reformat/reinstall. Anything else?
Ugh.

I would think the power supply of the Sony would control the voltage adequately to deliver a stable image. BTW, an UPS is a Uninterruptable Power Supply; they usually do contain line filters/conditioners though. Greebe could probably speak more on this topic.<TABLE BGCOLOR=Red><TR><TD><Font-weight="+1"><font COLOR=Black>The world just changed, Sep. 11, 2001</font></Font-weight></TR></TD></TABLE>
