    • GeForce3? When DX8 games start to emerge in the fall this year, there will be other options I'm sure. Maybe even a new Matrox card There's no real need for such a card right now, especially a card that a 'bit lacking' on the 2D quality Eventually there will be a new Matrox card I'm sure, it's even included in the new Amiga reference specs (mentioned as 'next gen Matrox card'). My opinion is that if Matrox release it in Oct/Nov this year, it is fine for me. Nevertheless I would not be sad, if they announce it right now I'm very curious...

        • Matrox is concentrating their effort on business solutions instead of gaming platform. Don't expect they will announce anything that is a Geforce2/3 killer anytime soon. They have nothing on the drawing board right now for gaming as thier hands are tighted up on a business solution that will be out by Christmas latest.

            • Now then calm down, calm down. Remember CeBIT goes on until the 28th so if they are going to announce something they still got time

              • They probably would have already announced it if there was something to announce. A company wants to use the length of the show to promote their product and start talking deals to their big customers.

But all this emotional roller coaster by some posters ... sheesh, a bit manic depressive.

                • yeah greebe and ant, give us hope!

"GO KNOWERS GO!!!" *dances like a drunken chearleader

but honestly i would consider it a nice move from matrox to at least say if/when they'll release any gamer's products and what kind of performance (low/mid/high) and price tag we should be anticipating... just so that we know how long we'll have to wait... but i guess it's already too late for me since i'm planning to buy myself a new system in about 4 months... by then a nextgen matrox card would still be too expensive or even unavailable even if it was announced at cebit, i think... but then again, i don't know anything, so i can still hope

                  hey matrox: buy powervr

                  • Thank you ANT, I am just wondering are all your moderator like that? Eversince I started to assemble my own box, I only buy ATI and Matrox for they are both very good Canadian companies and I support products from my own country. I don't see what's wrong with Matrox shifting their effort to business solution? Matrox is always a brand name there and the profit margin there is much much greater than gaming platform.

One question for Rags, as you being a moderator, does your reply really has to be so unpolite when you disagree with someone else's post?

Try to calm down mate, if you don't agree with me fine, but do tell me so in a more mature way, your attitude is hurting the reputation of this site and its forum, imho.

                      • I can't beleive I fell for it again. First there were rumors it would come out in Nov, then rumors that it would be announced this week.

Should have known that Matrox wouldn't pull through. Guess it's time to give up on them.
Just sold my G400 to a friend now it's time to get a Radeon since Matrox doesn't seem to plan on releasing anything in the near future.

                        • APV,

The issue here is that you speak as if you are all-knowing when it comes to what Matrox has on the table.

Some of us know things. The things we know and the garbage you spout flatly contradict one another sometimes.

THIS is why Greebe has an issue with you, as do I.

If you DID know something from inside Matrox, you would be bound not to discuss it, just like many of us are. Since you appear willing to discuss it, your opinions must be taken as purest conjecture.

Understand? I don't care if you live right next door - if you know what's going on inside there, you've signed an NDA. Period. And if you have signed an NDA, which I don't think you have, then you can't talk about it.

So whatever you say can be safely disregarded as YOUR OPINION.

You're allowed to have it. Just don't pretend that your opinion is somehow magically coming from inside Matrox.

                            • Yeah, if a company is going to announce a new product, they will do it at the _beginning_ of a show so they get exposure for the entire thing. If it doesn't happen on day 1, then overwhelming odds are it isn't going to. And judging by how a lot of have been quite dissapointed with Matrox lately, I don't expect any news about the next Gxxx card.

                              • It looks like no one around here must know what's going on.

NDA or not, I would think some of you "in the know" could have said that all this GDC/CeBit announcement possibility was crap.

Personally, I've gotten sick of the rumors and from what looks like Matrox's exit from the gaming arena. I have no problem with them sticking to business end, but I wish they'd clarify themselves. If they want to be a gaming card maker, let's see something better than the G400/450. If they don't, quit pushing the G400 as a gaming solution since it's obviously not anymore and stop pushing the dual head, evbm gaming.

Sorry for ranting, but I've liked Matrox products for a long time and after having my G400 for a long time, I kept putting off purchasing a better 3D card for gaming. I do alot of "real work" on the computer too, so I kept it around. I really started noticing the age of the 3D end of it though when playing newer games. That and their reluctance to let anyone know what's going on caused me to sell my G400. At least I got a good price for it. ($100 for a 32MB singlehead OEM that overclocked to 150/200).
The person I sold it to isn't a gamer but wanted a good video card. I'm not a huge gamer either, but I play a couple hours a week and want my experience to be good. Maybe that's why I don't play much anymore.

Whoa this is getting long. Sorry for the long winded post guys.
