    GM: Also Vauxhall and Opel.

Fiat owns Seat? Look at a VW Passat, then a Seat Toledo...

I think you'll find Seat is owned by VW/Audi, as is Lamorghini and Mazda is owned by Ford.
When you own your own business you only have to work half a day. You can do anything you want with the other twelve hours.

Volkswagen would rather be the fourth biggest than Fiat, Seat belongs to VW, not Fiat. Where can I get a date for the headcasting-night with Miss Marvel?

And at least Daimler-Chrysler/whoever, Fiat, VW/Audi/Seat/..., BMW, Porsche, Renault, GM/Opel/..., Ford/Jaguar/... and at least one japanese company are on their own and not bought out by someone else (although this is really surprising for Porsche).
That still makes nine big companies with a considerable market-share - OK, forget Porsche when we're talking about market-share...

Maybe the cars-discussion would fit better into general "hardware" ?
But we named the *dog* Indiana...

DaimlerChrysler has a controlling interest in Mitsubishi, Ford ownd 33%+ of Isuzu, and somebody has their claws in Mazda.

Chrysler does not have controlling interest in Mitsubishi, they don't even have a 1/4 of what it takes to have controlling interest.

GM has 33% in Isuzu, some in Suzuki, Subaru, Saab, and some others.

Ford has ties with Mazda, Mazda has ties with Isuzu, and Isuzu has ties with Honda...

              Rags

There are a LOT more ties than this, this is just to set Wombat correct

Engine, as in Mercedes, Audi, Volkswagen, Saab, Volvo, Peugeot etc? Even then we won't find out

Every car mfr still puts his own name on the engine, and on the back of the car. I don't believe if you drive an Audi that you'll have a Volkswagen engine, nor does a Saab have a Volvo engine. Maybe a Chrysler Voyager runs with a Ford engine?
                    Maybe a G550 runs a G4x0 engine

Funny never thought I'd see Car talk on this board..
anyways, ALL Car companies "share" when it's in their Best interest... Atleast in the US market there are Cross-overs all over...

And Jorden you are wrong.. Drive an Audi and You will have a VW engine, or is it Drive a VW and you have an Audi engine... 1.8T is in Golf's, Beetles and Passats, while it's also in TT's, A4's..

Honda just signed a deal with GM to share their 4's and 6's in exchange for GM's Desiel products...

Same as Mutsubishi and Chysler a few yrs ago, Chysler products used alot of Mitsu 4's and 6's...

Back to the thread, anyone have a G550? test it in OpenGL, but Matrox has already stated in their "interviews" that they try to give full support of the mainstream OGL, and still proclaims they have good support in OGL..
Prolly the same as the G4xx series, basically the same chip...

I don't have my card yet, but will next week...so this is just speculation on my part until I install it...

It will probably have the same support that the g4x0 cards do.
They have never claimed it would support OpenGL any differently.
Matrox has been putting out interchangable "unified" ICDs for G4x0 for some time now. You can swap any recent ICD from any 9x/ME/2K drivers around with other driver versions. The same ICD works on G400 and G450. Why would they rewrite all of that stuff for G550 when it's already there for G4x0?
I think that at least for a while G550 will just use the G400ICD, just like G450 does...and then maybe they will rename it to Gxx0ICD or MGAICD or something, and continue to make it a unified ICD.
This would make sense to me. The ICD programmers only have to work on one ICD, and would keep G4x0 users up to date at the same time.

Kruzin, without breaching you NDA, does this mean you test both the D3D and OGL drivers until you find one working with your own setup? (For the unititiated out there who don't know anything about the BB's )

Do you also have a say into which ICD from any of the OS'es works best with certain games/apps/general use?

                          Jord.

I don't swap them around benchmarking them, trying to pick out what I think is the best.
I just run the latest version they have given me to test at all times (unless it's got major problems).
We not only get the ICDs that are included with each full beta we test, but also get frequent updates to just the ICD between full betas. One ICD for all G4x0 cards, all current Windows platforms. They are constantly tweaking/adding to/improving their ICD, and contantly getting it picked apart by the BBs (mostly by Maggi and Rags ).

Yup, Matrox seems to be putting a lot more effort into the ICDs lately. And as Kruzin said Maggi and Rags have been really picking them apart to get any bugs fixed.

Kruzin, do you see any chance putting all that coherently in the FAQs?
