does the heatsink get hot at default speed? can you detach the fan and see if the card crashes and after what time? (probably not but asking doesnt hurt )

If we break it, we don't get another one. Therefore I ain't testing that!

                      noisy? Like a jet engine!

nah, It's not noisy at all - I can't hear it over the rest of my system anyway!

nah keep the heatsink on. just turn the fan off and report what happens
so does the heatsink get hot? do you think it can be cooled passively (at default speed) with a BIG copper heatsink instead of the small HS/fan combo?

why do you only run in 1280*1024 in singlehead? is it because of the monitor or the performance?
For me it's because the text is too small at 1600x1200x32bit. Monitor can handle 1600x1200 @75Hz and performance has not been an issue.

And the reef demo is absolutely stunning. http://forums.murc.ws/showthread.php?s=&threadid=33752 But as Kruzin said, still jpegs does not do it justice.

Any way to take temperature readings off the chip?
If not, any rough estimations of temp? For example, when running some video intensive app, is the heatsink too hot to touch, can you touch it for a few seconds, or can you leave your hand there without it ever getting too hot.
Any idea of the RPM of the heatsink fan?

                              Thanks.

Looks like Haig answered some of questions I had:

Haig : Yep, it's possible to add your own heatsink/fan and boost up the clocks.
