• When is P256 comming out?

I'm waiting for the Parhelia 256MB RAM board to come out. Not because I want that much memory but for the reason it may be clocked higher. At least that is what one of the head honcho's at Matrox said when I read the interview. Want to know how long I am going to have to wait.

You'll have to check the crystal ball.

Haig has said the 256MB version will have the same clock speed.

I believe it was a VP of sales or marketing that indicated that the 256 MB version would be clocked at a higher rate. Haig may not have quite the insight that the VP has.

Generally speaking, it's more likely that a sales department is yet again committing the engineering department to something without prior consultation. That's the kind of crap that happens in companies all the time. "But you have to have that ready by then, we told customer X so."

Don't confuse insight with overcommitment.
Gigabyte P35-DS3L with a Q6600, 2GB Kingston HyperX (after *3* bad pairs of Crucial Ballistix 1066), Galaxy 8800GT 512MB, SB X-Fi, some drives, and a Dell 2005fpw. Running WinXP.

I know all about that. I've been engineering professionally since the 70's. I still think it was our group which coined the term "Marchitecture" eons ago. The public will just have to wait and see if Matrox will be able to deliver a higher clocked P or not.
