Matrox did state what the cards would operate at. All cards that do not initialize at this speed are thus consider """broken"""

You should try to RMA it first.
Of course! I'll just RMA it and get another 217Mhz one"I contend that we are both atheists. I just believe in one fewer god than you do. When you understand why you dismiss all the other possible gods, you will understand why I dismiss yours." - Stephen Roberts

There are protection organism here in Canada for false advertising, there could be penalty, now you would have to prove it tough, not sure people outside of Quebec or Canada would gain much of this.
As for a class-action lawsuit, I think the peep who would gain more from it are the lawyers... It would take years to be settled and would probably end nowhere.
The best thing IMHO would be for everybody with the banding effect to RMA their card on and on till it get fixed...but then you're stuck with no card for quite a while...so it's still you the customer that loses.
For my part, I was pissed at the way this has been done, so I sold my parhelia (i got a nice price initially so i didn't lost much $$).
I'm pretty disapointed at Matrox who quote themselves high fidelity graphics and gives us a card with this unbearable banding effect, that they knew of, and most of all don't have the balls to come forward and say they screw and they'll fix it...
Pretty disapointed too of some peep here that have access to info we don't have and still recommended it and quote it as having the BEST IMAGE QUALITY period...( well its true in 2d but in 3d if you get the banding shit its far from true...not to mention the unexcusable 2x AF only)Athlon64 4800+

Unfortunately i really don't have the money to pay for shipping to have the card RMA'd.
And unfortunately i really don't wanna sell a card that has the banding issues, as its not something i wanna have come back and haunt me. To me my Parhelia is a broken part, and i pretty much refuse to sell a piece of hardware that is broken."And yet, after spending 20+ years trying to evolve the user interface into something better, what's the most powerful improvement Apple was able to make? Maybe I'll find someone who does 2D only.Ryu's PCs

so i didn't screw if that is what you implied.
And even if you did, so what? That's your call, not mine. You might be some sort of hardcore capitalist that believes in caveat emptor.Ryu's PCs

yeah, its your business if you sell it and who you sell it too... working in the PC industry made me pretty much stopped caring about if someone else is screwing a customer...
didn't mean to imply anything tho... its not my business and i've seen people who buy rediculously high end components to do email only...
its just a personal preference, because if i sold the Parhelia it would probably not be to someone i know. And i think most of the people who would buy a Parhelia are looking for Professional level components."And yet, after spending 20+ years trying to evolve the user interface into something better, what's the most powerful improvement Apple was able to make? Ah - exactly the same response as the "banding" issue.
I say that Haig won't give any official answer aside from "investigating" or similar.
I'd love him to prove me wrong, but I'd say there's a greater chance of Reading FC winning promotion to the Premier League and winning it next season than getting an official action respone to this."I contend that we are both atheists. I honestly believe that if Haig had an answer he would have given it to us. I suspect that management has been putting off any sort of resolution for this..."And yet, after spending 20+ years trying to evolve the user interface into something better, what's the most powerful improvement Apple was able to make?
