Lukappaseidue, can't you buy Matrox products directly from www.shopmatrox.com? Seems like there is that option, and price are not too high.

Actually, it's the chippest alternative for us (in Sweden) since resellers have P128 for ~€500 instead of 399 at the shopmatrox.com.

candyman, I hope you noticed that the 399€ is _without_ VAT...
(I had my hopes up too, but...)

I'll probably skip the revision, seeing as I already have the P128, but withe Parhelia2....it may be too damn tempting not to....especially with Doom3 then available.....

          My upgrades for next summer:

AMD Clawhammer/motherboard (if too expensive, I'll at least upgrade to Barton)

          Matrox Parhelia2....

Well, it sure is exkl. VAT, but last time I purchased from shopmatrox.com I did not notice any additional fee, it was pretty much (the price + shipping fee) * rate.

Hope I did not miss any radical changes in shopmatrox.com in the last 2 years...

                But WTF?!
Do I see €599??? No, I must have worked too much today.
So I expect to see some really different number when I wake up tomorrow

$600 - you gotta be kidding - would someone please post some benchmarks between the new 256k, the 128k, and the G400max - i really would like to know if you can see the difference between the G400 max and the 128k or 256k - if you donna have/want 3 monitors - does the new card put the G400max to shame???....i could easily tell the difference between earlier generations of cards - which i now have in boxes, i.e. mystique, etc.

looks like i will continue to save my pennies for the P2 - unless, the benchmarks that are posted make me drool, looks like i stay with G400max - only video game i play is Links - and the 2003 version is pretty good - i am not sure the new card would make a difference....does it?? - although, come to think of it - i do have two spare monitors (argh, i am weakening - but $600 really - i would paid $350 and Matrox should have reduced the 128 to $250 - are you listening Marox marketing??)

oh, thanks to everybody - i got my rainbow runner working as suggested on annother forum in XP - only problem is i lost some software dvd programs (like the Matrox one) but i do have a Dr3 card so i still can get 5.1 sound with the DVD - figured out the spdf by-pass ok. would like to get screen capture like i had with powerdvd2.0 but would have to buy the 4.0 to work with xp...oh, well....

You're not the market for a 256MB card.
Gigabyte P35-DS3L with a Q6600, 2GB Kingston HyperX (after *3* bad pairs of Crucial Ballistix 1066), Galaxy 8800GT 512MB, SB X-Fi, some drives, and a Dell 2005fpw. Running WinXP.

just wondering why people are still whining about the price...
if its too expensive for you then don't buy it ...

interesting stuff about the Parhelia 2
if its coming summer 2003 , I will buy it

Does the 256mb bring any benfits over the 128mb other than the extra memory???

other than a lower clock speed? i think not, maybe the core was a bit updated (=fixed?). we will see.
but seriously, this card is clearly marketed for users of high-end apps and so called "professionals" and not for gamers or semi-professional users. so lets just skip that one, hope matrox makes some nice money with it, and wait for p2 next year

Nothing worth upgrading to until P2...
