When I tested I of course used my mate's ddr333...
And I'm not happy ECS doesn't offer any overclocking options.
But, well, at this price there is nothing more I can ask for...

to clear things up i have an unlocked xp2200 cpu which i am running with samsung pc2700
it maxes out at 192mhz(i can get 195 but its not stable long term) and im running a 9.5x multiplier making the cpu 1823mhz.
i am at home for the weekend but when i get back to uni ill run some more benchies tell me what speeds you would like me to run at and i will do so, as gor the fill rate ill do that too just didnt want to waste time with 3dmark running it.
yep 230 is the maximum as my parhelia is unmodded as yet, when i get a couple of hours spare i have an all copper cooler designed for an athlon xp2100 to put on there which will hopefully allow me to get up to at least 240mhz core. is my motherboard holding me back? i have the latest 4 in ones installed is this retarding my performance? if so can i uninstall them under xp?many thanks

The Pahelia is what is holding you back....more cooling for the core, memory, other hot areas could help...

Your motherboard isn't the best board for overclocking....

            That would go to Epox....

We wanna see fillrate scores to see what effect extra memory bandwidth has on fillrate....

K6-III don't see where he's asking if he need a new MB or that it's crappy.

His numbers look good and while it's true the cpu isn't his limiting factor, at this point I doubt he'll manage much more out of Parhelia without taking things to the very extreme (water cooled pelt anyone?)

I do see you comparing your system to his (or anyone else's) and teasin them to beat you (if they can).

He asked the question: is my motherboard holding me back...I simply said an Epox board would let him get more out of the CPU...

Looking forward to what effect that has on fillrate...

You can't say that's what the limiting factor is. For all practical purposes it could very simply be due to his cpu holding him back. Nothing he can do to change that other than replace it or... (see below).

and you didn't per se tell him what to get other than pointing to what YOU currently have and yours is only an additional 80Mhz more than he's currently doing...

Not to mention he can run the FSB upto 195 stable, I highly doubt the MB is an issue at all. heck all he's effectively doing is running the cpu a default speed and upping the buss, what if he...

There are many other factors weighing in on what todo next... like could better cooling help, is it worth the additional cost? More case fans, a new CPU, new MB, new PS???

the motherboard is a non issue in my opinion it overclocks nicely and ive had the cpu at 1.96gig with the same set up but ive gone for a silent zalman so the temperatures are no longer cool enough at 1.96gig, the object of the excercise for me was to see what i could get parhelia to do not what the rest of the system could do thats for another day, im very happy with my set up the way it is and do not wish to change it.the board will supply more voltage to the cpu on demand but like i said before unless i crank the cpu fan speed up temperature becomes an issue i am unwilling to live with.

heres a link to a benchie i ran with old drivers and ram at 633 with fillrate test included

                            not all that interesting
think i may go back to the old drivers though as they seemed to perform better in 3dmark(i know its synthetic but if you want the best fillrate then ill use the drivers which give the best results for it)

Confirms pretty much what I was thinking.....the core has FAR more effect on fillrate...

Anyone could have told you the that... or heck even you could have tested it out for yourself
