I agree 100%...if professional users had the option of choosing a blazing 3D controller being produced by dozens of companies, with questionable reliability and decent IQ at a moderate price or one with stellar IQ, solid drivers, extra features that they would find useful, all at a higher price, they would choose the latter.

      - which is why for multimonitor use, a G450 is used - or the MMS cards for more screens. Parhelia is not yet reliable/well known enough and we don't need 3d for financial analysis! (Well, not yet, anyway, although I am working on it...) Price of the actual component doesn't come in to it.

Soupy: presumably you guys have good contact with Bloomberg & Reuters who supply machines/recommend hardware for their services? Is Appian still in the business?

What ever hapened to the consumer version release of the newish 3d labs chip? P10.

PS has anyone noticed the strange formatting of the parhelia advert in the bottom left of the screen . 256mb, 128mb,GAP.

They're gonna release a 64mb, you can tell. No on in their right mind would format the picture like that.

Nothing yet I think, for the "low end" they released the WildCat VP560 which has a P9 chip, based on the same architecture as the P10.

barely there...they just can't compete, even with hydravision.

the "Matrox Parhelia and Adobe After Effects Bundle" doesn't fit anywhere but underneath the box shot, hence the space.

Business users either: already own G400/G450/G550 or are getting Radeons 7500/9000 or GF2 MX/GF4 MX's.

Cheap, reliable, not so great quality etc...

(I know that for business use I'd want nothing but a G450 or G550 out of those cards, but most OEM desktops don't offer them at configuration and most of Word/Office/Internet boxes come with intel Extreme graphics.)

I specifically asked for Matrox card at previous job, but since the vendor was an Asus rep. I wound up with GF 2MX.

Also the bulk of business desktops is now integrated (mainly intel, some SiS and some nVidia)

I mean Radeon 9000 and MX4 440 are priced on par with G550 (source newegg.com Ati, Leadtek, Matrox). I'd say Ati's product line being better than nVidia's is the reason MSI is jumping ship.

Yes ATI hydravision sucks, as I miss my secondary montior shutting off when I only use one montior to game on.

The Parhelia is good tech, just that differences between the way head engineer did things and how the people under him did stuff wasn't excalty conductive to a good end product and the failure to nail down what market they wanted target didnt help much either. Parhelia has/had lots of promise, just that I doubt we'll ever see it ever use it...and thats a shame.

I would love to support Matrox in the future, but the way things stand now I won't since they don't offer what I want and need.
Why is it called tourist season, if we can't shoot at them?

Tsk tsk tsk, the Adobe bundle is being sold by your video division, not your graphic division, hence, it should be advertised in your video division's section of your site

I'll bet you a round at Jack's that you guys will announce a 64m card by sometime April.

                      Deal?

since the bundle includes a parhelia, it is being co-marketed by both Graphics and Video, but sold through Video.

Hey soupy - if the financial terminal market is potentially quite important to Matrox, is there any chance of you ever providing pivot funcionality natively in drivers (so you can fit more screens side-by-side on the same desk )? For either the P or MMS series of course...

absolutely, we're working on comprehensive pivot support for the MMS products (next driver release, if i'm not mistaken). I haven't heard of anything similar for P.
