DirectX 9 vs are vs r2.0. DirectX 8 vertex shaders were those of r1.1. So if they promote it as a DirectX 9 vs, it would have been nice to activate it whithin the first year, don't you agree?

IIRC the reef demo is dx8.1, none of the demos on the driver cd were dx9, not even the displacement mapping demo(it was propriertary parhelia specific coding combined with dx8.1 afaik).
This sig is a shameless atempt to make my post look bigger.

ROFLMAO... that is so sad about the reef demo

But why do people say emulating TnL with VS 2.0 done on their CPU look so much better? (of course not PS2.0)

            just wondering

It's always great to come home from work to find new Parhelia drivers, and for the record, look in their FTP directory, the file is actually dated 4-11-2003, so it actually was released on Friday, they just didn't update their page/ftp site 'til today. How rude.

I thought they did some trick like what they did with the G550: hidden VS and TnL so well that only the HeadCasting thing sees it... (or ArseCasting if you wanna put it that way)

In my opinion that must have something to do with the small size of team members in the driver developement, compared to ATi or nvidia. Those people has much other things to do & fix.

Globally they do a really good job. Per head they surely have to solve much more duties than an ATi or nvidia programmer...

I won't exchange my life with one of those software developers but on the other hand (as customer) I would be glad, too, if they finish their work on the software interface of Parhelia's vs2.0...

well, 3dsmax works now in directx9 mode, and it is a lot faster too! So that should mean these drivers are dx9 compatible (at least partially).
There is also a new WYSIWYG video plug-in, wich now supports Photoshop too!
You know the world is going crazy when the best rapper is a white guy, the best golfer is a black guy, The Swiss hold the Americas Cup, France is accusing the US of arrogance, and Germany doesn't want to go to war.

There's also dual stream for dvd max, but of course you folks wouldn't know that since the release notes aren't up!!

I'll check tomorrow as to what happened to them.

Nope, the greedy buggers. But hey, at least they released a newer driver, now for the linux drivers, I really don't want to have to buy a PCI card for linux, when Matrox stated during the announcement for the Parhelia that there would be full linux support.

Right. - But possibly it weren't troubles with uploading to ftp or editing web sites... Possibly they first simply celebrated some testionials, before providing the new drivers to the world...

I find these new drivers really fastest on 2D.

                                That's good news, Haig.

As well, it's good to know, that the new drivers support the DX9 features of 3dsmax, now, MaartenLierop. That's more important, than 3Dmark, I agree here.

But what does 'dual stream for dvd max' mean exactly? Are here the second head and a TV maxed? That would be interesting.

ps. Release notes would be nice, missed them, too.
