The "P750 (NFORCE2)" benchmark is probably a typo and should be "9700pro (NFORCE2)".

diewlei, well...nobody said that those are cards for gaming...as you said
so I really don't see why you're angry...

as for gfFX...well, many places on the web stated that it'll have "great IQ"...but just look at this. Now that's something to be angry about

even if it would be the slower one, it still beats my old GF DDR on 2nd computer. most likely that's the case also on P650, so next thing I am going to do is become a real MURCer again.

There has been a lot of discussions regarding the inclusion of the P750 benchmark scores on the NFORCE2 motherboard. They are not typos. Due to a driver issue surrounding the NFORCE2 Chipset and the Matrox Millennium P750 these scores may not be an accurate reflection of actual performance with NFORCE2 platforms. We wanted to include what scores we recorded regardless and will update these benchmarks when and if the issue becomes resolved.

This does not mean that the Millennium P750 is "broken". There is an issue that Matrox is aware of and they are working to resolve it.

Some have inquired about overclocking the Matrox Millennium P750. As we all know Matrox products are not enthusiast gaming platforms that can compete with the competition on a 3D gaming benchmark comparison. Overclocking is a skill and subject to a wide variety of results dependent on platform and user.

I prefer, for the most part, to leave that up to you enthusiasts to "tinker" with as a lot of you are far better at it than I.

I would venture a thought that 2D enthusiasts who use professional graphic applications such as Photoshop will greatly benefit from this product as it fills the middle ground between Parhelia and the G550. After Effects users will really like being able to work in two screens PLUS have TV out for previewing a render. (P750 model only...P650 is single plus TV out)

Thanks for reading the review. I do appreciate the feedback.

The banding issue is what some have noticed on Parhelia. Like all hardware there are some that never experience a problem and others who do. Gremlins have a way of picking on people randomly.

Personally I did not experience any banding issues with my Parhelia 512 sample nor with the P750.

Did you try running a 3d app in a window with a light background behind with vsync off???

In all tests on both the NFORCE2 and KT400 boards VSYNC was disabled. Specviewperf runs in a window on the desktop and I did not notice any banding. Softimage builds the animation in a window as well.

But to address your specific question: I did not run a 3D app such as a game (Quake III) in a window on a light colored background/desktop.

I would personally love to know if they have this whole banding issue licked in the P750. I am really tempted to get one and two issues holding me back are the banding and linux drivers

LOL... a KT400 single DDR mobo can take out an nFORCE 2 mobo with dual DDR? No way

Well, looks like Linux drivers are coming:

                            AGP 2.0 compliant system

                            600 MHz CPU

I think MURC never had a prob with that, but thank you for chiming in and giving direct responses ...

on another note, doesn't the nforce2 chipset have built-in gfx and could the score be a result of that gfx chip, rather than the P750 ?
