Well personally I think its pretty cheesy to sell cards with that wide of a speed variation. As someone else mentioned, you don't buy a 2GHz cpu only to find its really running at 1.9 because it didn't quite pass the stability tests. Binning the chips into full speed versions for retail and slower for OEM is fine, but there should really be a set speed for the versions and not this wide variation. Seems to me like the 10% clause is put in there to help reduce yield problems. Yeah M hasn't advertised speed before, but their other cards actually were set to the same speed.

      My guess is 7.5% headroom.

oddd.... when all this was going around and everyone was bitching about it (which suprisingly never really got anywhere...) Matrox never fessed up and said they have a +/- 10% tolerance.

i would have thought that would have been the easy way to deal with the problem 8 months ago if such a policy existed at the time... unless this policy was snuck in while i was away...

I would be interested how hard the testings are.
Low level 2d & 3d testing is done for a certain amount of time.

            Oh this is...Nice.

I had heard a rumbling about card being clocked at 217mhz but nevver really looked in to what it was about. I thought it was just some issue with certain chipsets or mobos. ie in VIA run at 217, stick same card in Nforce and it runs at 220.

The idea of paying for a 220mhz card and getting a 207mhz card is terrible. Haig if you are indead to become president them you should probable stop allowing matrox to rip us off. For a quick and nasty solution you could offer the P in MAX, Pro and vanilla formats, and use only three set clock speeds plus OEM clock.

However my major question would be. Does this same policy exist for the P650 and P750. I want one because Im not willing to pay for added extra of banding.

            Thanks Haig.

As a side note. I think matrox's glory days were in the Mystique era. Are there any of the original designers of the Mystique still in Matrox?

              FU**

              Hey,

can anyone clock the Parhelia faster than 290 ?? (With V-Mod)

With Vapochill i tested 310 MHZ... but 12 Minutes Later the Condence Water came out...

Guys, sorry for my stupid english.

Hmm, this friday i Build up my new Watercooling set for my Graphicscard. I hope my new Parhelia is better for Overclocking, better Stepping ?!

my Last Parhelia with AirCooling :

Without VoltageMod (Default Cooling) : 238/611
              With VoltageMod ( only P4 Boxed) : 254/645
With Higher VoltageMod for Memory (IC´s Copper Cooled, GPU Copper Cooled, Ram´s Copper Cooled+20mm Cooler on Rams+ 20mm Cooler on IC´s+YSTech T.M.D on GPU) : 290/760

THATS MY ULTRA MAXIMUM WITH AIR COOLING ! Now I Build Up my Watercooling for the Memory, for GPU is a Heatkiller Present.

KintaroOE, your old Parhelia died from the voltmod, correct? How long did it last? How much faster was it, and are you just going to do this again with the replacement P?

it dies because the artic silver was on my PCB. The Replacement Parhelia im Voltmod too.

                  With Watercooling NO PROBLEM.

oh Gosh i LOVE the Parhelia... i must beat the 300 MHZ wall for GPU and the 800 MHZ for Memory, THEN i test (first Time) 3Dmark2001...

Does this same policy exist for the P650 and P750.
If the clock speeds are stated on our site, I can't comment.
