Forgotten issues? The Win98-driver issue is still not mentioned - wasn't said it was in the works (beta!), but later that there wasn't ever one even planned?

As long as matrox makes decisions in my sense I cannot complain though.

KintaroOE, the filtering is advertised correctly, although if not read/understood correctly it's very deceptive.

And then there's the mystery of the missing OpenGL drivers... err... no wait, that's the G200. Did the G400 have any "serious" issues? I can't remember having any major problems with my old G400 MAX other than performance and/or software incompatibility bugs, but it's been a while.

The G400 didn't have a full OpenGL ICD for quite a while and I could dig out the exact dates, if I was bothered enough ...

          don't remember the "TurboGL" ???

Ah, forgot about that, the G200's missing OpenGL support distracted me from remembering that the G400 started off with hardly any OpenGL support either (not that it got all that much better anyway.)

I remember the TurboGL probably have it on an old cd somewhere of patches.

Maggi now you know why I have put next to zero effort in getting my Parhelia fixed after the last beta BIOS we tested blew my card up.... last Feburary!

Oh I'll send it in sometime soon, but with the gross exploitation everyone has been forced to endure (it's alot deeper than any non insider would ever know... sorry I'm still heeding my NDA on certain things to protect the innocent

Yes it sucks, but EVERYONE already gave up on this being a power card. Yes I own an OEM one, but I just decided to drop it in my moms rig cause all she does is business stuff. Matrox still King of the 2D image quality.

Hard to be stunned by this news, really. The card has already had such a checkered existance. What's one more failing without any answer or acknowledgement?

                      Gee, hard to believe

                      Or, NOT!

If this isn't the most fun a guy can have for free. Finally there is vindication for the views I expressed when I reviewed the Parhelia from a gaming perspective.

The funniest part is the arguements that I got in this very forum when that review was published. Saying I was not treating the product fairly and so on.

I said it was a piece of crap then and it has now certainly shown itself to be exactly that.

Parhelia YEAH!!!! I can play games very, very slowly on three monitors at once at an incredibly low resolution. Boy, am I lucky I swallowed the line o' crap from Matrox hook, line and sinker. Oh no, wait, that wasn't me, that was YOU!

                      Heh heh... CHUMPS.

I've been without my Parhelia for over two months now, ever since it got fried by lightning which went through the TV-out and killed DVI #2.

It'll return from my retailer today, and I can't wait to have some my triplehead desktop back again. I feel so handicapped by not being able to use all three monitors.

It might not be the fastest in 3d anymore, but the 16xFAA make up for it bigtime. I fail to see any buggyness in their implementation of it.

                          I'm so happy now.

One of the bigger questions is:
What is keeping Haig there? Surely he can get a job where he doesn't need to deal with such a horrible company with godawful morale issues.

The non-compete agreement has to be real harsh, that's the only thing I can think of. However whatever talent Matrox had was probably good enough to get the promised support. However when the P tanked horribly and Matrox started slashing heads, I bet all the talent they had just walked and took a verbal agreement with nVidia or ATI to get hired on as soon as the non-compete expired.

Actually, from what I hear from "they" that that's exactly what happened. So Haig, why are you sticking around that dog of a sinking ship? I'm sure that a certain other canadian leading graphics chipmaker would find you much more applicable there.

(If Haig ran ATI's tech support, between him and Terry Makedon you'd have a real winner! Or Haig could clean up nVidia's MUCH needed horrible PR situation, look at how he's helped Matrox!!!)

It's sad really, reminds me of Scarface where the old drug boss said "I didn't do nothing to anyone" "no no Frank, you just had someone else do it for you"

Matrox's owners must be just like Frank!!! ROFL
I am the 1 and the 0, the bit and the byte.
No computer is unbendable to my will, as hacking is not so much skill as psychology. Much like the lawmaker and the money that drives him to do as anyone would wish with it.

                              Matrox go away already

Voted I don't care. Why? Cause I will likely not buy a Matrox card ever again. They need to close shop, and go home. They could and should be on top of the dog pile. Instead they are a pile of dog ****.

I said I don't care.... man when the P was announced I had high hopes for it.... then it sank.
Haven't used a matrox product since my G400 Max....
what bs the P was, I asked an local store in Vancouver if people were buying the P when it came out.... the guy just rolled his eyes... I think the store made a bad decision just stocking it...
All the 9700 Pros were sold out though...
