  • Yup, 5.41 is a "no go" for me too...

I'm getting the lag every three seconds in Unreal Tournament- and my sound card (SB PCI64) buzzes a bit when the lag happens.

I had no problems whatsoever w/ 5.30- I didn't change anything else. So, back to 5.30

I've been messing about and i have finally managed to get the new drivers working on my compy witout any stuttering. What i did was extract the setup files as normal then right click on my computer->properties->display adaptors->G200 and then updated the drivers from there using windows. They now seem to work fine i have got an increase in FPS and Q3 looks even better than it did before. I guess there is something wrong with the setup program they have included with the new drivers. Hope that helps fix the problems other ppl are having.

I've always installed PD "manually" since the setup prog doesn't seem to do much anything..

It just "copies" the files in less than a sec (yeah right) and then asks me to finish the installation by rebooting.. after which I still have VGA only..

Since Haig is on vacation this week, there might not be anyone (Matrox person) reading the forums this week.

Perhaps us G200 owners would get an "official" fix more quickly if we all submit the problem to the tech support...

Wouldn't the "manual" installation skip the copying of the new PowerDesk and any OpenGL drivers?

That would explain why everything seems to "work"...

              Hey Lucid,

Do I copy all the files?
              And Where to exactly?

              Thx in advance!

                BTW,

I'm supposed to have which OpenGL DLL where?
I mean is the original MS OpenGL32.dll still used and any of the driver DLL File in which directory?

My Q3A Demo Test didn't include a "q3config.cfg" file. Do I need one? (I don't even like the sound of that one myself... feels like I'm new).
Since I can't run TurboGL, I need to fix this. I have a lot of OpenGL games that presently don't run.

                  Lucid:

I had the same problem. The fix is simple. When you run Matrox's uninstall utility and reboot, your machine will ask you to install a driver for "PCI compatible VGA Display Adapter" or something similar. Do NOT hit cancel; let Windoze install the driver for it. After that, the Matrox setup will run fine. If you cancel that PCI driver setup, the Matrox setup does what it did to you.

Im very impressed with the new drivers. I skipped 5.30 due to user feedback, and when I installed the 5.4x I saw an immediate improvment, through Windows acceleration. Havent had the stuttering problem, but then again, i default all my games to my SLI rig.

Has anyone noticed a diffrence with the updated OGL ICD? I cant belive its able to run Quake3!!!

The Rock, thanks. But why should I run the Matrox setup after I've installed the drivers with Windows' Device Manager?

As long as it works for you, that's the main thing. I kinda like having the Powerdesk icon in my tray. Does the manual Windoze install put it there?

This time over, I simply doubleclicked the setup, and it replaced my 3.3 powerdesk with no problems at all...

The opengl icd is MUCH better!

I am just playing halflife opposing forces, and as U might know, this does not work with the matrox minigl driver. Its most faster in opengl with the new drivers.

The minigl driver is the same as in the last release.

Yeah, they definitely did something with the ICD this round. 5.30's ICD had some graphical glitches that weren't visible in the turboGL (Q3DT, of course). Hard to describe, but the point is that the 5.41 ICD appears to have fixed that, and added a few fps. I can't tell how the new ICD compares to the turboGL speedwise, since I can't complete a full game / demo / benchmark to get results to compare when using the turboGL. Seems to lock up a few minutes into a match.
