• What are your UT benchmarks?

Hey, I was just wondering what all of you are getting in Unreal Tournament speedwise. I have been kind of pissed about the scores, because they seem pretty low. You can download UTbench and the directions right here.
Please include your system specs, resolution, color depth, and detail levels.

Hi Cole,

Geeze, man, did that every make me dizzy! They ought to rename that benchmark the "vomit comet". I ran this on two setups that I have. In both cases I ran with all the detail on "high", 1024x768x32, 3D sound enabled.

I have no idea how Thunderchez is getting those scores on his second system. What's your secret?

G400 Max (@ spec)
PIII 600 MHz Katmai

Asus P2B-F
Aureal 2500 (3D sound at whatever the default is)

1024x768 32-bit High/High: 19.95 fps

OK, heres my system

PIII 450@558 (124/41)
G400 32MB -MGATweak 290 (145/193) (running AGP 1x)
256MB RAM
IBM 6.4 and 10.something GB IDE HDD
ASUS P3B-f
SB Live Value
5.41 Drivers, DX7,...

Anyways, 1024x768x32, Med Skin detail, all else on (44Khz Sound) 23.26

Turn 3D Sound off and I get 25.58.

It doesn't get much better, 800x600x16 gets 26.13. If I drop to 640x480x16, low world detail, low skin detail, no 3D sound, low sound quality (drop to 22Khz), I get 32.35.

What's my secret? I dunno exactly. You can take a look at my system and how I install the os at my homepage. It is a bit stale, but for the most part it is roughly accurate.

P3@560, Win2K, 1024x16, HD,HD: 20.12/45.33/31.12 (min/max/avg)

What does it say? Nothing. There are too many undefined factors involved to make a valid comparison. To inflate my scores I only had to set mindesiredframerate to 45. Running under Win98 would have resulted in much better scores still, but since we are comparing bull against crap I couldn't be bothered.

If we want to compare scores, we must pick the same settings, like:
• 1024x768x16
medium/medium
mindesiredframerate=0
decals on
dynamic lighting on
trilinear off
16 bits textures
no detail textures
vsync off
double buffering (disable UseTripleBuffering)
everything else enabled

Hmmm, found that my Vsync was enabled in the registry, disabled that and got a 57Fps MAX on 640x480 and still 28-29fps avg...

and the mindesiredframerate was at 28, and, i got around 26fps with it set at 0.

any ideas?

here are my test results for Unreal Tournament,I only did the two resolutions that I think are important so here we go !!

1024x768=min(14.2)max(45.33)avg(30.41)time(96.48 seconds)

800x600=min(21.11)max(50.42)avg(34.37)time(85.37 seconds)

The benchmarks were done using the highest most demanding settings in the game,im sure you allready know these.

Here are my sys specs:-

G400 MAX running with agp X2
P3 450 running at 630 mhz (140 fsb) 2.0v s-code SL35D Costa Rica (oem)
Alpha P3 125c Copper Embedded heatsink
Abit BE6 Motherboard
128 mb pc 100 sdram (my lucky dimm)
17.3gb Fujitsu h\d Udma 66
21"Sony monitor
SB Live Value
Diamond Super Express 56i Modem
Pioneer 10X DVD Drive
Supermicro SC-750 full tower case

G400 Max o\c with power strip
Memory Clock 216.0 Mhz
Graphics Clock 162.0 Mhz
No incorrect anomalies(ARTIFACTS)with Graphics Images!!!

As you can see from my results I am happy enough with my score and that although I am always looking for ways to increase the peformance a little {:O)

p.s. I dont know if anyone can get this game running any faster, but it is a very demanding bit of software "any ideas" :P

Pretty impressive overclocking, mathew. You must love that DIMM of yours (not that the SL35D is shabby )

Some lame but effective performance boosters: for gaming, put your mindesiredframerate up to 50 and if you want more, disable dynamic lighting and decals, it will still look pretty decent. You may also want to try 960x720 resolution (define this res using the PD5 Resolution Manager, available from murc).

On the benchmarking: I ran some tests, but I think that the timedemo has become pretty flaky with the latest patch. I manage to get very different results running the same benchmark over and over again with the same settings...

When the North American guys are playing, my wooden shoes have been kicked under the bed, next to the box with cheese and tulips and stuff, so... I guess the best time is when I'm only dreaming of fragging.

Mostly when I check the server there's noone around (20:00-00:00 GMT). Not a very successful strategy, but I'm too lame to hang out on an empty server...

Paulcs, Tchez's secret - try hitting the "~" key just after initializing the benchmark. Then "~" after awhile (lol) when the benchmark is done, that way you'll see much better results. Don't know why they have it set this way, like who really plays with the console open?

Anyhoo, here are my #'s, all settings 32bit, highest quality.
