Please leave me at least a couple of weeks before you can complain about W2K support
I just *don't* know what causes the problem.
Oh, yes, I know what causes the problem, but I don't know why it doesn't work on W2K whereas it works perfectly on W98.
    Did everybody here switch to W2K ?? ^^;
    Do you at least know that it is NOT a gaming platform ? ^^;

Sorry Naoki, I can't send you a copy of
      win2K (that would be illegal). I wasn't
complaining in the email I sent you , I
just thought you wanted to know about any
bugs going on so i sent you a screen capture
      of the "access violation" error.

What do you mean by saying win2K is not a
gaming platform ? Does that mean you're not
allowed to play games on it?

        Naoki,

Can you try to explain why the bumpmapping won't work on my system?

        And Maniac,
does the game work on your system now? I mean with the bumbmapping enabled?

If Win2K isn't a gaming platform, then why does Unreal Tournament play better under it than under Win98SE? I've been playing games under Win2k for months; AOE2, Tiberian Sun, HOMM3, UT, Mechwarrior 3 + add-on, etc etc. Win2k is a far superior gaming platform, except for some older games that don't work like Battlezone. I'm not downgrading to Win98 just to play hardware-bumped mahjong.

Hey Rock, don't you know a joke when you read one? Anyhow the problem I had before happened one time, and has since disappeared. I might have played Q3 right before when it happened...

              Hi there,
I've finally installed Windows 2000 on my computer (it's a cool OS, but I'll keep my Windows 98 in dual boot for a while... ;-)), and managed to spot the bug and fix it forever ^_^

By the time you read this, my website should be updated with Kyodai 11.00 Beta 7, which is guaranteed to work perfectly under Windows 2000, including the Bump Mapping features ;-)

Finally, as for the gaming platform stuff, yes it was a joke. But I didn't actually imagine W2k was so good at playing games : in fact the performance with Kyodai is identical to Windows 98, except for the DirectX initialization delay (can be experienced when switching tilesets etc), which is something like 3 times faster
              Wow

This may be the law student in me speaking, but I don't know if I would go around saying that something is guaranteed to work on Windows2000 without these problems...

                    Hu !
The problem was caused by a small mistake I'd made. I was mixing together an unsigned and a signed variable. When the unsigned variable reached -1, it was actually considered as a positive value (the largest possible), and since I used it to "index" the bump texture, it actually thought it was in another part of memory --> thus, Access Violation.
Actually, the problem is more complicated, but you don't need to know all of this, do you ?
The important thing is that this bug is guaranteed not to happen again under W2K. That's all. That doesn't mean Kyodai is free of bugs, of course. (Where would be the fun of beta testing, if it was bug-free in a beta version ? )

It does, of course, run great now on my machine running Windows 2000. Thanks much...

                        Enjoy

(And, hopefully, the remaining bugs have been removed... I just hope I didn't add any new bug today )

                              <FONT SIZE=5>Happy B-Day !!!<FONT SIZE=2>

Besides that I wanted to mention that I tried to play your cool adaption on my Dad's P2-350 running a NVidia Rage 128/128ZX ...

It runs only in software mode and your Tetris like game is so slow that I cannot play it at all, because the redrawing of those tiles a so slow that I get a 'Game Over' while the first tile still hangs up in the air ...

PS: I'm actually downloading your updated version from www.3dfiles.com ...

PPS: I also installed it on a P3-550 running my good old Mystique G200 and I noticed the framerate averages around 30fps and is a lot easier to play, because the tiles als fall slower than on my G400 ... anything you can do about that ?
I mean, it cannot be fair to get a higher score, because you use a slower system, right ?

                              ------------------
                              Cheers,
