impact: after the diablo2 server finally came back up, i did the fps and came up with the following:

init when i went in.. i got around 65+ fps. as time go on though, the fps starts dropping and goes as low as 30 fps. and kinda just stays there.. even when i go back to where had 65+ fps before.. something is wrong.. maybe it has something to do with the ping time. *shrug*

Still sounds good. Now let's just end the test and ship the game.
Someday, we'll look back on this, laugh nervously and change the subject.

With fps on, my fps is about 90+. But when I had the fps counter on, the monsters cannot be killed nor do they attack for some reason. [*shrug*] My ping was around 300+. Yeah, pretty bad.

Anyway, the game is pretty good thusfar. Been exploring the mausoleum, caves, and what not. Quite fun. Using two magical single-handed axes, found 3-4 rings, an amulet, and 2 gems.

FYI, the attack speed is faster with two axes, but damage per blow is less compared to using just one axe. But to have the effect of two magical axes is too good to miss.

          Hello fellow MURC'ers!

This post is pathetic! It's groweling at its worst, I know. But if any of you have been involved in the Stresstest of D2 and are tired of testing/playing the game, could you please mail me your access key.

          Why do I want it:

          1) I live in Europe and haven't even had a chance to see this great game in action. Only screenshots.

          2) I've been wainting for this game for 3 years.

          3) I'm going to take my final exams. Today I'm going to one in Internet programming (ASP,CGI,HTML,JAVA etc.), and the last 2 weeks I have been unable to concentrate about preparing for this exam. If you help me out here I might be able to let off some steam and prepare better for the next exam which is in 2 weeks.

I only want to try the game for a few hours. I won't abuse your trust and give the key to someone else or post it in a newsgroup for everyone to use.

Please take pity on a suffering MURC'er, who has tried do his best helping you with Matrox hardware and general hardware issues on this forum for almost two years.

          Regards,

          Jake

Hey everyone, I was wondering how you guys have been doing so far. The B.net servers seem to have finally stabilized and I at least have gotten some good playing time in. I was just wondering how your characters were coming along. I have a character on both BetaUSEast and West. My east char is doing much better now that the server is up consistently enough for me to actually gain experience.

I've managed to gather some pretty cool gear so far, however since I am at work a the moment I can't list it all cause I don't remember it all. I'll do so when I get home tonight though.
Anyway, I've also managed to collect one of all seven gem types and have found 1 gem shrine and upgraded my ruby to flawed.
I'm hoping to eventually be able to get it to perfect, but that would take 4 more gem shrines, which isn't bloody likely. Especially since I've played 20-25 games so far(if not more) and have only come across one gem shrine, which rather irks me since I know some people have reported finding 2 or more gem shrines in one game.

Basically a good old fashion character compare is what I want so that we can can all drool over what everyone else has and be jealous and all that. Like I said, I'll post my character run down when I get home from work( I think they'd frown on it if I installed D2 here and started playing ).

            Anyway, later all.
            Ian

P.S. Jake, I might be willing to help you out if it had been the full game(strange as that must sound). The ST though is different. Personally, I feel that Blizzard has given me the chance to be a beta tester of sorts and part of the agreement is that I don't give my CD-Key to anyone else. I know I must sound really weird for that, I geuss it's because this is something they have been generous enough to allow me to do, where as if I buy the full game I have bought the right to play it and so I don't have as much of a problem with giving away copies of the program or cd-keys etc. Hope you understand that.

              Hi HedsSpaz!

Thanks you for condsidering it. I understand perfectly. My only problem is that I don't even KNOW anyone (in non-cyber life) who has a working key, as the only Europeans selected as of yet has been because they signed up using hotmail accounts. So it's not like I can just go see it at a friends house.

But I don't hold a grudge against you for not wanting to violate your agreement with Blizzard.

But, July just seems soooo far away....

              Have fun,

              Jake

Funny, I remember seeing at least three keygens for the stress test. All turned out to be only jokes.

But, July just seems soooo far away....

Don't I know it. As fun as the stress test is, it has it's downsides. Namely that once you play through the same 1/5 of act 1 enough times you begin to go stir crazy with anticipation of the full game.

The other problem is that I can see clearly why they chose the barbarian for use in the ST. I'm having fun with him but I'm really looking forward to the Paladin, Necro, and Sorceress. I'm betting that most other people feel the same. The Barbarian is sort of an inconsequential extra that we might as well have fun with since he's there, but most people would rather play one of the other classes.

Anyway, on a seperate but related note, once the game does come out we MUST start a guild specifically for MURC members. My personal preference would be to allow any class, absolutely NO PK's(and harsh punishment if you do kill anyone other than a known PK), and hardcore as you choose. So, anyone got any suggestions for a guild name?(read "MURC" or "MU" would not work well for this) I haven't thought about it to much yet, but we shall see. Of course, this all depends on Blizzard actually releasing the patch that adds support for Guild Halls, and after that, someone has to beat the game so that we can buy a guild hall.

Anyway, I've got work I should be doing right now, later guys

                    Diablo 2 has gone GOLD!
I almost went apesh*t when I read that statement about an hour ago. FINALLY!

If I can cope with the comming weeks before I have the game in my hands, I think I will give the barbarian character a try. He kinda reminds me of my teenage days, when I played an AD&D (1st. edition by Gary Gygax)barbarian character called Umlat! He wasn't very bright, but BOY did he pack a mean punch. I could go on forever.... so much for a stroll down memory lane.

A MURC'ers guild hall & D2 Clan would be a neat thing indeed. And you are right, If we aren't going to call it Clan[MU] or something like that, we have some thinking to do...

                    I agree, NO PK'ers allowed!

Should we start signing up members? Begin making a homepage?

                    Regards,

The trouble with calling it "Clan[MU]" is twofold. First of all, there are Guilds in D2, not clans.

More importantly though, almost all of the currently existing guilds(don't ask me why they exist before the game is even out, I haven't a clue), have mythical/medeival/heroic/fantasy sounding names. "Guild MatroxUsers" just doesn't seem to me like it would fit in too well.
Of course it's not that we won't actually BE [MU], it's just that it really shouldn't be our Guild name, and we can still use MU as our guild letters(you're supposed to have a 1,2, or 3 letter abbreviation for your guild).

As for a web page, I am more than willing to work on that. I have some web space that I can host it on, or since Oboy I think is moving the Clan[MU] web page onto Ant's server, maybe Ant would let us put a guild page there as well.

I'll talk to Oboy and Ant about it and see what we can come up with.

Dimitri, I agree, you are strange. Not that any of the rest of us really have room to talk though.

I'm thinking for a name that we still use the letters MU, but come up with different words to attach to them. I'm trying to dredge something interesting from my medieval history class, but all I can think of at the moment is Merovingian and Machiavellian, both of which would be a little silly. I also was thinking maybe something clever having to do with the Periodic Table, but there is no element "M", and Uranium would be a little tricky to play off of. So, kill that idea.
I've only been able to thik of a few good sounding M words that would work for a guild name, but none of them would fit us I think.
                                As for the U, I haven't a clue.

So, lets have some suggestions guys. Any language will do, (provided it uses the anglo-saxon alphabet, ie. no russian, chinese, japanese, swahili, etc.)
