    Hi all,

I'm having a slightly different problem. I'm using the beta 5.11 drivers on win2k with the service pack and compatability patch on a G400 MAX.

I can use OpenGL mode, and it runs really really lovely except for lines that run across the screen. Whenever there is a usage of transparency (rocket trails) the the lines turn white in the region the transparency was. I can't figure out what's doing this. It happens in all modes up to 1152x864.

I have the AGP aperture set to 256MB (as suggested by Matrox support) I just don't get it. Other than the lines, I'm getting quite a high framerate (I think, don't know how to find out). The reason for the framerate could be because I'm using an Athlon 850.

I tried using D3D but it "jumps" way to much and makes it unplayable.

Any thoughts or if you had this problem and solved it, I'd love to know.

    Thanks

Remember this post got started by someone complaining of getting 10-25 fps in TFC running on win2k. I told them to switch to D3D to get double the frame rate. This person (Double) replies back saying thanks it did give me double the frame rate, which I predicted.

So now there is two of us saying D3D gives better performance and only you saying it doesn't and that there is something wrong with my machine.

If there was something really out of wack with my machine then there would not be someone else that gets the same results as I do.
Once there is more than one then its no longer is a freak occurance.

And I never said anything about TFC and performance differences. I can be sure of is Counter strike because that is the only thing I play using Half-life.

      I have a PII 450 with 160 MB Ram, soundblaster Live!, SP1

What I really like to hear is from other win2k users. What are your performance differences with openGL and D3D and what your settings and machine?

      Mine:

      gl_ztrick "1"
      gl_keeptjunctions "0"
      gl_texsort // D3D is 1, openGl is 0
      hisound "0"
      s_reverb "0"
      max_shells "0"
      gl_palette_tex "1"
      fastsprites "1"
      r_mmx "1"
      r_decals "40"
      cl_himodels "0"

      TheFLC,
To fix the horizontal Lines I heard you should have:

      gl_ztrick "1"

      This is what I heard.
A person should not promise to give a child something and then not give it,
because in that way the child learns to lie.

I already cut and pasted my config. This config has been widely posted by Kruzin over a dozen times, I have modified it slightly to suit me.

you are talkin about a compatibilty patch?
Becuase since I installed SP1 for Win2k. I can't logon to WON for athourization... is there a workaround?
In case it's a harware problem:
          PIII-500@560, 256 MB, G400 MAX DH on, ABIT BH6, MX300
          Win2K drivers: 5.52
