G400 to G400MAX/ G450?

    of course it depends on the resolution you test at. The higher the resolution, the more likely that your G400 already was limiting factor (fillrate) and not the speed of your CPU...

    but a upgrade from 450 to 1Ghz should give at least a 20 - 40% framerate increase at 800x600x16 bit in q3a.

      Yep, I just confirmed that. Upgraded my P3 450 to an 850MHz this weekend. I didn't see much of an improvement (1 or 2fps) in 1024x768x32 which is what I usually play at in most games (especially UT). 800x600 screams (over 80fps), but I'd rather be playing at the higher res.

      Maybe I'll look into overclocking the G400...

        but are there any real performance gains from overclocking the g400 to max speeds? i'd like to know before i start sticking heatsinks on anything that is 2 degrees above room temp

          Yes there are real gains. Why would people go after the max´s if they weren´t noticeably faster???
