Knowing that Matrox really has a wicked numbering system, it might be at least worth a try.

Yeah, I saw it. I will switch the DLL files later.

You want to use the /b option when comparing non-text files, e.g. fc /b.

Ouch. Someone from http://forum.matrox.com/mgaforum/For...ML/002815.html has similar problems to mine. I still haven't gotten a chance to switch DLL files yet!

if you use fc file1 file2 /b and get the numbers, they're different (the numbers are the positions where they are different, i think

The first field is the address, the second and third fields are the contents at that address (one byte) for the first and second files respectively. All numbers are in hex.

Hmm, it seems like other people, with different video cards, are having problems:

I had big stability problems on my G400 MAX (win98, PD 6.50). The game would lock up after a few minutes. So, I tried using MSTSUtil to set OpenGL to fast. This made the game lock up in seconds. I went back into MSTUtil and set OpenGL to accurate, and haven't had a lock up since.

BTW, the game will probably get a whole lot faster with the next driver release from Matrox. SS only supports multitexturing through a specific extension (GL_ENV_COMBINE, I think). Once Matrox puts this in their drivers, I imagine the game will be playable at 1024x768 with moderate quality settings.

Where can I get this program? I have never use these programs before. What setting would it be at now? Accurate?

                          Follow this link:

                          http://www.matrox.com/mga/support/dr...s/ftp_util.cfm

To Matrox' utilities section and download mtstu418.zip. When you run it, click on the 'tweak' button, and then the OpenGL tab. In the bottom right corner, you'll see a selection of default, fast, accurate, and custom (names are probably a little different). It will be on default. Click on accurate, hit okay, and reboot like it tells you too. Thats all there is too it.

Setting to accurate, rebooted, etc. Still crashes. ARGH!!!!!!! I also tried disabling sound. That didn't help eithber, so it is not a sound problem.

I had a freind with a g400 who had similar problems (athlon 850) with the demo
If you set game quality to noraml in the in game menu, it would crash about 10 econds into the fly by bit.
Set it to fast and it would last a lot longer.
And if set it to high quality, it wouldn't crash.

Actually for me in the full version, setting to speed quality lasted longer than the high and custom qualities.
